Overview

Na Aliʻi is seeking a Traveling Reclamation Laborer to support our environmental restoration efforts in the Rocky Mountain region. Typical projects include stream restoration,  fire recovery, and Abandoned Mine Land (AML) closure projects. Possess ability to work as a team and to interact professionally with colleagues, subcontractors, clients, and project stakeholders in the ever-changing environment of a field construction project.

Responsibilities

The following reflects management’s definition of essential functions for this job but does not restrict the tasks that may be assigned. Management may assign additional duties and responsibilities to this job at any time due to reasonable accommodation or other reasons. The ideal candidate will:

  • Able to travel within the Colorado front range area and/or Rocky Mountain region.
  • Perform field labor support for stream, trail, and mine lands restoration.
  • Installation of erosion control features.
  • Support installation of mine closures (bat safe doors, gates, cover grates, masonry bulkheads, mechanical backfills, or mine shaft safety closures).
  • Work outside and exposed to all seasonal weather conditions. 
  • Accept material deliveries and load tickets.
  • Assist with revegetation efforts (plant cuttings, seeding, blankets and/or straw).
  • Deliver equipment and materials to mine sites.
  • Reclaim  tailings and waste rock piles and mine sites.

Qualifications

Skills/Qualifications: 

  • Basic math skills with the ability to read maps and follow directions.  
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license and an acceptable driving record as evidenced by a Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) check.
  • Welding and earth work equipment operation experience are a plus.
  • Stormwater Best Management Practices (BMPs) installation/inspection experience a plus.
  • Revegetation restoration experience a plus. 

Education/Experience: Must possess a High School Diploma or GED Equivalent. 

 

Safety Requirements:

  • Complete safety orientation and abide by safety/personal protective equipment policies. 
  • Demonstrate safe work practices and avoid unsafe behaviors. 
  • Drives defensively, avoids preventable accidents and always wears a seat belt. 
  • Attend regularly scheduled safety training.
  • Complete the OSHA-10 safety training program - desired. 
  • Report all unsafe conditions to your supervisor. 

Work Location: On-site, reports to Wheat Ridge, CO office.

 

Travel Requirements: Willingness to travel 50-75% of time along the Rocky Mountain region.

 

Physical Requirements: The ideal candidate must at a minimum be able to meet the following physical requirements of the job with or without a reasonable accommodation: 

  • Ability to perform repetitive motions with the hands, wrists, and fingers. 
  • Ability to engage in and follow audible communications in emergency situations. 
  • Ability to sit for prolonged periods at a desk and working on a computer. 
  • Ability to stand for prolonged periods.
  • Able to hike and carry material to mine sites to support closure activity,
  • Able to work in an outdoors team environment.
  • Able to lift a minimum of 75 pounds.
  • Participate in the medical monitoring program, if required.

The Nakupuna Companies use a market-based compensation strategy to ensure that our employees are compensated within applicable market ranges commensurate with multiple factors, including but not limited to the individual’s particular combination of education, knowledge, skills, competencies, and experience, as well as contract-specific affordability, organizational requirements, and position location. The projected compensation for this position is $20.00 to $24.00 an hour. The hourly rate displayed represents the typical range for this position and is just one component of Nakupuna Companies total compensation package for employees.
