Job Description
N2W has immediate full-time engineering opportunities in our headquarters office in Irvine, California. The ideal candidate should have between eight and fifteen years of related work experience in the field of Civil and/or Environmental Engineering and/or Construction Management. The successful candidate will have significant prior experience in water and wastewater engineering or construction. Extensive knowledge in the use of AutoCAD and project management software is highly desired. The candidate must have the ability to continuously learn new skills and software and processes and have superior written and communication skills. Job duties of a successful candidate include taking ownership under the direction of N2W’s project management team to:
- Lead engineering staff in the design of water/wastewater/recycle water/bio-solid/bio-gas plants and pump stations with the ability to independently complete design elements such as process flow diagrams (PFD), process and instrumentation diagrams (P&ID), plant hydraulic profiles, equipment/valve/piping list, civil, and process/mechanical details.
- Take on ownership and responsibility for calculations of treatment process requirements and modeling to identify equipment specifications.
- Initiate and complete engineering feasibility studies (EFS), engineering design reports (EDR), preliminary design reports (PDR), preliminary and final design.
- Provide detailed estimates of costs related to engineering design, equipment procurement, installation/construction, startup/commissioning, and operation & maintenance scopes of services.
- Independently direct vendors and the ability to administer schedules and budgets of ongoing projects.
- Attendance at client meetings with the ability to lead and present on specific technical portions to a large audience of peers and client personnel.
- Under the supervision of the Principal Manager, provide leadership and team guidance for Water/Wastewater projects as well as collaborate with Project Managers and Client Managers to develop and deliver projects for clients.
- Perform supervisory duties for Water/Wastewater section staff engineers including time/expense approvals, monitoring utilization, workload planning, annual performance conversations, and similar responsibilities.
- In collaboration with Project Managers, manage the financial aspects of Water/Wastewater projects, and coordinate and adjust staffing to ensure the work is completed within the parameters of the agreed schedule and budget.
- Work closely with the project engineers, staff engineers, engineer associates and CAD professionals to prepare planning level and final engineering projects including reports, design drawings, cost estimates, and engineering specifications.
- Work collaboratively with other design disciplines to provide integrated solutions and support business development opportunities.
- Perform QA/QC of internal and external deliverables.
- Be responsible for identifying staff training needs or providing training as established by strategic plans and objectives.
- Provide technical knowledge and support including engineering standards, engineering specification, engineering best practices, QA/QC procedures, and project management tools.
- Develop and review scope and fee proposals.
- Recruit and retain project engineer, staff engineer, engineer associates, and CAD professionals
- Perform other duties as needed.
Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelor or Master of Science in Engineering in Civil or Environmental Engineering (other engineering majors will be considered) from an accredited four-year university.
- Eight to fifteen years of related work experience.
- Must have obtained the State of California Professional Engineers Civil License.
- Sufficient knowledge of AutoCAD and Microsoft Office suite of applications to work independently.
- Ability to travel and work for extended periods at project sites.
- Employees must be legally authorized to work in the United States. Verification of employment eligibility will be required at the time of hire.
- Able to pass a basic background check.
