Meat Wrapper

We are looking for a reliable and detail-oriented Meat Wrapper to join our team. The Meat Wrapper is responsible for wrapping, packaging, and labeling meat products for sale to customers. This position requires attention to detail to ensure that products are presented properly and safely. You will work closely with the meat cutting team to ensure products are packaged correctly, stored properly, and meet all quality and safety standards.

Key Responsibilities:

• Wrapping and Packaging: Wrap and package fresh meats, ensuring that all products are neatly and securely wrapped to maintain freshness.

• Labeling and Pricing: Affix appropriate labels to all packages with product information, pricing, and expiration dates. Ensure all labels are clear and legible.

• Inventory Management: Assist with inventory checks and ensure that wrapped meat is stored in the proper location and rotated as needed for freshness.

• Product Presentation: Maintain the appearance of the meat display cases by arranging packaged meats neatly and attractively. Refill displays as needed.

• Customer Service: Provide excellent customer service by answering basic questions about meat products, helping customers with selections, and ensuring a positive shopping experience.

• Safety and Sanitation: Follow all food safety protocols, maintaining cleanliness in the work area and adhering to health and safety regulations.

• Assisting with Meat Preparation: Work closely with meat cutters to ensure packaging and labeling are done efficiently and to company standards.

• Equipment Handling: Safely operate packaging machinery, including shrink-wrap machines, and other necessary tools.

Skills & Qualifications:

• Experience: Previous experience in a food handling or packaging role, preferably in a grocery store, butcher shop, or food production facility.

• Attention to Detail: Ability to accurately wrap and label products, ensuring quality and freshness.

• Physical Stamina: Ability to stand for extended periods, lift and carry meat packages (up to 50 lbs), and handle repetitive tasks.

• Customer Service: Strong communication skills and a customer-friendly attitude.

• Organizational Skills: Ability to manage time effectively, keeping up with production demands while maintaining high-quality standards.

• Sanitation Knowledge: Familiarity with food safety and sanitation standards, particularly in meat handling.

• Team Player: Ability to work well within a team environment, collaborating with meat cutters and other staff.

Working Conditions:

• Work in a refrigerated or cold environment (e.g., meat storage areas or display cases).

• Protective equipment, such as gloves and aprons, may be required.

• Handling meat and packaging materials, including plastic wrap, trays, and labels.

• May involve standing for long periods and performing repetitive tasks.
