Role: Material Handler II

Location: 39 Loveton Circle, Sparks, MD

Duration: 12 Months (W2 Contract)

Shift: 1st Shift (6:00 AM – 2:30 PM)

General Summary

The Material Handler II is responsible for the safe, accurate, and efficient loading, unloading, movement, and processing of materials within the distribution center. This role supports warehouse operations by ensuring accuracy, compliance with SOPs, and adherence to safety and quality standards. Duties listed are representative but not all-inclusive.

Job Requirements

· High School Diploma, GED, or two years of relevant experience required.

· Experience operating MHE such as Order Pickers, Reach Trucks, Counterbalance, Slip and Clamp, and Dock Stockers.

· Ability to obtain and maintain Forklift Certification per BD guidelines.

· Strong verbal communication skills.

· Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, metrics-driven distribution environment.

· Ability to read and interpret distribution and shipping documents.

· Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and collaborate effectively with team members.

· Basic analytical, organizational, and prioritization skills.

· General knowledge of distribution center operations.

· Ability to operate RF scanners or voice-directed systems.

· Must be able to work near moving mechanical equipment.

· Ability to perform essential job functions with or without reasonable accommodation.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

· Pallet and Case Picking: Process customer orders by scanning barcodes, picking, labeling, packing, and preparing shipments. Operate RF scanning technology and follow all SOPs and work instructions. Maintain Good Documentation Practices (GDP). Ensure accuracy verification and proper shipment packaging. Maintain a clean and organized work area.

· Pallet Building: Perform palletizing activities including scanning, retrieving, and placing completed orders on pallets. Re-palletize products as required. Perform dock manifest duties, including scanning completed pallets and operating shrink-wrap equipment. Transport pallets using material handling equipment when required. Verify shipment accuracy and packaging.

· Inbound, Outbound, and Inventory Movement: Load and unload inbound and outbound shipments using the Warehouse Management System (WMS). Handle pallets safely to prevent damage. Complete assigned tasks in accordance with departmental procedures and productivity standards. May operate parcel manifest stations and prepare transportation documentation. Maintain GDP compliance, complete required RF training, and ensure accuracy verification and shipment packaging. Maintain current status in all required C2C training modules.

· Material Handling Equipment (MHE): Operate material handling equipment safely and in accordance with certification requirements. Report all equipment damage or maintenance issues immediately. Maintain equipment cleanliness and organization per established procedures. Ensure MHE certifications remain current at all times.

· Safety and Security: Perform all job duties in compliance with safety policies and procedures. Report injuries, accidents, unsafe conditions, hazards, or suspicious activities immediately. Support warehouse security and promote a safe working environment.

· Quality: Understand and support organizational quality objectives and standards.

· Sanitation and Housekeeping: Maintain a clean, neat, and orderly work area at all times. Follow facility sanitation and housekeeping guidelines to ensure a professional work environment.

· Hazmat Training: May receive Hazardous Materials training, including general awareness, function-specific training, security awareness, safety training, and security plan instruction.

· Cross-Training: Cross-train in other warehouse functions and provide backup support during absences or peak operational needs.
