Marine Production Manager — Job Requirements
Education & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in marine engineering, naval architecture, industrial engineering, or related field (preferred).
- 5–10 years of experience in marine manufacturing, boatbuilding, or shipyard operations, including at least 3 years in a supervisory or management role.
- Proven experience managing fiberglass or composite vessel production.
- Familiarity with marine systems (electrical, mechanical, propulsion, rigging, and outfitting).
- Strong knowledge of Marine INFUSION practices a strong bonus.
Technical Skills
- Strong understanding of boatbuilding processes, materials, and finishing techniques.
- Knowledge of marine safety regulations (ABYC, NMMA, USCG, ISO, or equivalent).
- Experience with production planning, resource allocation, and workflow optimization in a marine environment.
- Proficiency in ERP/MRP systems, CAD drawings, and production scheduling software.
- Ability to interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and specifications accurately.
Leadership & Management
- Demonstrated ability to lead and motivate production teams, including trades such as laminators, riggers, electricians, and carpenters.
- Excellent communication and coordination skills with design, engineering, purchasing, and quality departments.
- Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills in a hands-on environment.
- Experience with Lean Manufacturing, 5S, and Continuous Improvement initiatives is a plus.
Quality, Safety & Compliance
- Ensures production meets quality standards and complies with safety and environmental regulations.
- Develops and enforces standard operating procedures (SOPs).
- Monitors and maintains ISO or ABYC certification standards within production.
Other Requirements
- Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously.
- Strong focus on efficiency, cost control, and delivery schedules.
- Willingness to work extended hours or weekends during peak production periods.
- Commitment to workplace safety, craftsmanship, and continuous improvement.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $55,000.00 - $75,000.00 per year
