What are the responsibilities and job description for the Coffee Roaster position at Mystic Coffee LLC?
Job Overview
Looking for someone who loves coffee and is interested in becoming a part time roaster. We are a newer roastery and as we grow we hope to turn this position into a full-time one. Hours offered per week will vary in the beginning based off of order volume. You will get hands on training until comfortable and then asked to perform the roasting operation independently. Must be able to drive to the roasting facility in Waterford, CT.
Responsibilities
- Roast coffee beans using commercial roasting equipment, monitoring temperature, time, and airflow to achieve desired flavor profiles.
- Conduct quality checks on roasted beans, including sensory evaluation and visual inspections, to ensure optimal flavor and appearance.
- Maintain cleanliness and sanitation of all roasting equipment and work areas in compliance with HACCP (Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points) and GMP (Good Manufacturing Practices) standards.
- Operate packaging machinery to package roasted coffee efficiently while ensuring product integrity and food safety.
- Manage inventory levels of green beans, roasted beans, and packaging supplies within the warehouse or storage areas.
- Follow strict food safety protocols during all stages of roasting, packaging, and storage to prevent contamination.
- Perform routine mechanical inspections of roasting equipment; troubleshoot mechanical issues using your mechanical knowledge to minimize downtime.
- Document production data accurately, including batch records, sanitation logs, and maintenance reports.

- Strong attention to detail.
- Not becoming distracted while working
- Be able to physically move coffee buckets around weighing up to 20lbs
Job Type: Part-time
Pay: From $18.00 per hour
Expected hours: 8 – 24 per week
