SCHEDULE: Full-time; 36 hours per week; 7:00 pm - 7:00 am
Confidently utilizes the nursing process to provide and direct high quality patient care to OB patients and newborns. Delivers appropriate patient/family teaching and support. Provides leadership when working with team members in exceeding standards for professional nursing practice in the clinical standard.
Graduate from an approved professional Nursing Program. RN required, prefer BSN. Certification in Basic Life Support is required within 3 months of date of hire. Advanced Cardiac Life Support Certification is required within 12 months of date of hire. Neonatal Resuscitation Program Certification is required within 6 months of date of hire. Prefer at least one year of medical/surgical experience. RN assessment skills for any patient.
Provides intense nursing care to laboring women and be able to access labor dystocia, non-reassuring fetal heart rate patterns or any arising OB related emergencies. Provide education, advise and support to laboring women and support person or people through different therapies, different pain management plans, and individual birth plans. Work deliberately and independently to protect the patient's rights and deliver the gold standard of care. Communicate clearly and timely to OB's physician of progress of labor or any medical concerns, NB's physician of respiratory difficulty, feeding issues or any dismissal obstacles. Complete assessments on obstetric patients and newborns and recognize any abnormal findings, utilize nursing interventions, communicate with physicians accurately and thoroughly. Facilitate the bonding of the family unit by allowing them to be comfortable and invited, teach newborn cares to help prepare them for life at home, give them resources to help them be successful.
