Worship Leader Job Description
Part-Time Worship Leader Position – 15-20 hours per week
Worship Leader Responsibilities and Duties:
Faith and Character: A strong, personal commitment/relationship to Jesus Christ and alignment with the church’s statement of faith and mission.
- Service Planning: Select, arrange, organize and execute music for weekly worship services. Meet weekly with pastoral staff to align music, scheduling and themes with overall church vision.
- Leading Worship: Strong vocal skills. Proficient in playing a lead instrument such as guitar or piano while able to lead the congregation clearly, enthusiastically, and authentically during weekly services and seasonal events (i.e..- Christmas & Easter). Flexibility to adapt to musical styles and environments.
- Musical Proficiency: Knowledge of a wide range of worship music genres (i.e. traditional hymns and contemporary) and ability to adapt to both. Ability to read music with an understanding of music theory.
- Team Management: Recruit, audition, and schedule volunteer vocalists and instrumentalists.
- Rehearsals: Direct weekly band and vocal rehearsals to ensure quality musical preparedness and spiritual unity.
- Technical & Administrative Collaboration: Work with media and sound teams to manage lyrics and audio levels.
- Personal Preparedness: Commitment to ongoing personal, spiritual and professional growth.
