What You'll Do:
- Receive, verify, and accession biological specimens according to SOPs and quality standards.
- Perform pre-analytical activities such as labeling, aliquoting, nucleic acid extraction setup, reagent preparation, and sample storage.
- Operate and maintain laboratory instruments (centrifuges, pipettes, extraction platforms, etc.) following established maintenance schedules and documentation practices.
- Support licensed testing personnel with test setup, reagent preparation, and workflow staging while maintaining the chain of custody and traceability.
- Maintain accurate, complete, and legible documentation of all laboratory activities in accordance with CAP/CLIA/NYS requirements.
- Monitor routine laboratory housekeeping, inventory control, and environmental monitoring to ensure readiness for inspections.
- Follow biosafety, chemical safety, and waste-management protocols to maintain a safe and compliant work environment.
- Contribute to validation studies and quality control activities under supervision, contributing data and documentation.
- Communicate proactively about equipment malfunctions, deviations, or procedural issues promptly to the General Supervisor or Laboratory Director.
- Participate in ongoing training, competency assessments, and continuous improvement initiatives to maintain compliance and efficiency.
- Perform other duties as assigned to support goals and objectives of the department as well as the company.
- Bachelor’s degree in biological sciences, biotechnology, or a related discipline is required.
- 0 - 3 years of hands-on experience in a clinical, academic, or research laboratory setting (NGS or molecular experience preferred).
- Strong understanding of basic molecular biology techniques (pipetting accuracy, nucleic acid handling, reagent preparation).
- Familiarity with CLIA/CAP-regulated environments and laboratory documentation.
- Experience with laboratory information management systems (LIMS) or electronic recordkeeping (preferred).
- Excellent attention to detail, organizational skills, and adherence to SOPs.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to take direction and seek clarification when needed.
- Ability to lift up to 25 lbs, stand for extended periods, and perform repetitive laboratory tasks safely.
- Location: Onsite full-time at our Menlo Park, CA office.
- Compensation: Annual base salary range is $45,000 - $60,000 depending on experience. In addition, equity will also be provided.
