Job Overview

We are seeking a dependable, compassionate, and organized Short-Term Teletherapy Paraprofessional to join our team from August 2026 through November 2026. In this role, you will support students during their virtual speech therapy sessions by helping them transition to and from the therapy space, assisting with technology setup, and providing supervision, encouragement, and redirection as needed throughout the session.

This role will include working closely with students with special needs, including those with autism spectrum disorder, developmental delays, communication challenges, and other learning or behavioral support needs. The ideal candidate will be patient, nurturing, and confident in creating a calm, structured, and supportive environment that helps students feel successful and comfortable while accessing virtual services.

This position is a wonderful fit for someone who enjoys working with children, is comfortable with basic technology, and values helping students access the support they need in a positive and consistent way. Strong communication skills, flexibility, reliability, and a student-centered mindset will all be important in this role.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Escort students to and from their scheduled virtual speech therapy sessions in a safe, timely, and supportive manner
  • Help students log in to teletherapy sessions and ensure devices, headphones, and internet connections are working properly
  • Provide general supervision and support during therapy sessions, particularly for students who may need assistance staying engaged, regulated, or attentive
  • Support students with special needs, including those with autism, developmental disabilities, communication disorders, and other learning or behavioral needs
  • Help students remain on task, participate appropriately, and feel comfortable in the therapy setting
  • Use patience, encouragement, and gentle redirection to support student success during sessions
  • Assist with transitions between the classroom and therapy setting, especially for students who benefit from additional structure or reassurance
  • Communicate with school staff and therapists regarding student attendance, schedules, behavioral needs, and any concerns that arise
  • Troubleshoot minor technology issues as needed to ensure students can access services consistently
  • Maintain a calm, positive, organized, and supportive environment for students receiving virtual services
  • Help ensure students attend sessions consistently and on time
  • Support the therapist and school team in creating a smooth and successful teletherapy experience for each student

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working with children in a school, childcare, clinic, or support setting
  • Experience working with students with special needs, including autism spectrum disorder, developmental disabilities, and communication or behavioral challenges, strongly preferred
  • Paraprofessional, special education, behavioral support, or student support experience preferred
  • Comfortable using basic technology, including laptops, headphones, and virtual platforms
  • Strong communication, organization, and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work independently while also collaborating effectively with school staff and therapists
  • A patient, calm, encouraging, and student-centered approach
  • Ability to provide appropriate support while fostering student comfort, confidence, and independence
