About Us
Mylah’s Organization Incorporated is a New York City–based nonprofit committed to strengthening communities through supportive housing, youth empowerment, workforce development, and violence-prevention programs. We are seeking a Director of Community Engagement to build meaningful partnerships, expand outreach, and represent our mission across schools, neighborhoods, and public forums.
Position Overview
The Director of Community Engagement is a leadership role focused on connecting the organization with the people and communities we serve. This role combines outreach, event planning, public speaking, program development, and grant support. The ideal candidate is a confident communicator, relationship-builder, and organizer who thrives in community-centered work.
Key Responsibilities
- Build strong partnerships with schools, principals, community leaders, and organizations
- Serve as the primary point of contact for community stakeholders and partners
- Attend community meetings, school events, and town halls to represent the mission
- Support grant applications by collecting community data and impact stories
- Assist in organizing fundraising campaigns and events
- Plan, coordinate, and oversee workshops, programs, and community events
- Speak on behalf of the organization at public events and community forums
- Collaborate with leadership to design new community programs and expand existing ones
- Recruit and coordinate volunteers for events and initiatives
- Work closely with media and communications staff to promote events and programs
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Education, Communications, Nonprofit Management, or related field
- 2 years of experience in community outreach, event planning, or nonprofit work
- Strong public speaking and interpersonal skills
- Knowledge of grants, fundraising, or community partnership development preferred
- Excellent organizational and time management skills
- Flexible schedule—availability for evenings and weekends when needed
- Passion for serving communities and advancing the mission of Mylah’s Organization

Pay: $19.00 - $25.00 per hour
Expected hours: 40 per week
