Description

Are you passionate about video content and want to help millions of people make smarter shopping decisions? We're looking for talented individuals to join an exciting team that's changing how people shop online. Our team brings helpful videos to Amazon shoppers to make their shopping experience more informative and engaging. When browsing products on Amazon.com, you'll see our work in action - from videos showcasing products alongside photos to dedicated video sections that help explain product features and benefits. We help shoppers throughout their entire journey - whether they're discovering new products, comparing options, or learning how to use items they've purchased. By joining the team, you'll be part of a global initiative that uses video technology to enhance online shopping, helping customers make confident purchasing decisions through engaging content from community members and brand owners.

On the Integrated Video Experience (IVE) team, we're on a mission to revolutionize the way customers use video to shop on Amazon.com. We believe that video has the power to inspire, educate, and delight shoppers, enabling them to experience products before they buy. As a key member of our dynamic, startup-like team within Amazon, you'll have the opportunity to shape the future of video-driven commerce.

We are looking for a skilled Full Stack Front End Engineer to join our team responsible for building Amazon.com's shoppable video experience. In this role, you'll develop and optimize interactive video features that empower customers to make informed shopping decisions through immersive, information-rich video content. You will work on a player that supports closed captions, jump links, hotspots, related products and related videos, and interactive elements like helpful votes, share, and report functions.

Additionally, you'll help enable inline playback, which seamlessly integrates video into our product discovery experience as customers scroll through the widget.

Key job responsibilities

  • Develop Interactive Video Features: Build and enhance features like closed captions, clickable jump links, interactive hotspots, and related products within the shoppable video player to deliver an engaging and informative experience.
  • End-to-End Software Development: Work on both front-end and back-end systems to support seamless video streaming, interactive elements, and product recommendations.
  • Collaborate Across Teams: Partner with designers, UX researchers, and product managers to align development with the intended customer experience and Amazon's usability standards. Also work with other Amazon teams to help them integrate with video player in partner team's shopping journey.
  • Enhance User Engagement: Implement share, report, and voting features to increase customer interaction, ensuring smooth functionality and responsiveness.
  • Optimize Inline Playback: Develop and test inline playback capabilities to provide customers with continuous video engagement as they browse through product details on the page.
  • Instrumentation and Data Collaboration: Implement instrumentation to measure key video engagement metrics, such as watch time, interaction rates, and feature usage. Collaborate closely with the data team to analyze these metrics and provide insights that drive continuous improvement in the user experience.
  • Performance and Scalability: Ensure the shoppable video platform is highly performant, scalable, and optimized for fast load times and efficient streaming across devices.
