Responsibilities

• Perform thorough cleaning and disinfecting of patient rooms, treatment areas, restrooms, hallways, and common spaces using appropriate cleaning agents and equipment.
• Handle laundry duties efficiently, including sorting, washing, drying, folding, and distributing linens and uniforms while adhering to infection control protocols.
• Manage chemical agent handling safely by following OSHA (Occupational Safety and Health Administration) guidelines for storage, usage, and disposal of cleaning chemicals.
• Conduct manual handling tasks such as heavy lifting of supplies and equipment while practicing safe lifting techniques to prevent injury.
• Utilize specialized cleaning equipment for floor care, surface sanitation, and detailed cleaning tasks across healthcare facilities.
• Maintain detailed sanitation logs and ensure compliance with safety protocols to support healthcare infection prevention and control standards.
• Respond promptly to spillages or contamination incidents with appropriate sanitation procedures to uphold a sterile environment.

Skills

• Knowledge of OSHA safety regulations related to chemical handling, hazardous materials, and workplace safety practices.
• Proven experience in healthcare facilities housekeeping or janitorial roles within hospitals or clinics.
• Strong understanding of environmental services best practices for sanitation, infection control, and hospital cleanliness standards.
• Ability to operate cleaning equipment such as floor buffers, steam cleaners, and other janitorial tools effectively.
• Physical stamina for manual handling tasks including heavy lifting and prolonged standing or walking throughout shifts.
• Familiarity with safety protocol adherence to ensure a safe working environment for yourself and others.
