Duties
- Prepare federal, state, and local tax returns, ensuring compliance with current regulations and deadlines.
- Conduct detailed tax research on issues such as estate planning, securities law, and non-profit accounting to inform strategic decisions.
- Assist with tax planning initiatives, including mergers & acquisitions, asset management, and private equity transactions.
- Maintain accurate records of debits & credits, general ledger entries, and balance sheet reconciliations using various accounting software like QuickBooks
- Perform analysis of financial statements and reports to identify discrepancies or areas for process improvement in financial report interpretation.
Skills
- Strong knowledge of GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles), regulatory reporting standards, and technical accounting practices.
- Proven experience in tax accounting, including estate planning, wills & trusts law, and non-profit accounting.
- Proficiency with accounting software such as QuickBooks, Lacerte, or similar platforms; familiarity with financial software for payroll and accounts payable is a plus.
- Excellent analysis skills with the ability to interpret complex financial data and perform account reconciliation effectively.
- Solid understanding of financial concepts related to auditing, securities law, mergers & acquisitions, and private equity investments.
- Ability to handle double entry bookkeeping accurately while managing multiple projects under tight deadlines.
