Job Title: Senior Linux System Administrator (RHEL / AWS – NC FAST)
Location: Raleigh, NC (Onsite 2–3 days per week required)
Duration: Contract
On-Call Requirement: Evenings and weekends as needed
Key Responsibilities
- Install, configure, and maintain Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) systems across environments
- Manage Linux infrastructure hosted on AWS platforms
- Deploy and maintain AWS services including EC2, S3, RDS, EBS, and related components
- Develop and maintain shell automation scripts using Bash or Python
- Manage user access controls including RBAC and sudo policies
- Perform OS patching, vulnerability remediation, and security hardening
- Support backup and recovery strategies at the operating system level
- Monitor system performance and troubleshoot production issues
- Maintain system documentation and configuration procedures
- Support deployment strategies with development and operations teams
- Configure Linux Satellite server and deployment management tools
- Support storage platforms including FSx, EFS, EBS, and S3
- Implement encryption and key management best practices
- Participate in environment scaling and infrastructure performance optimization
Required Qualifications
- 3 years of experience administering Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) on AWS platforms
- 5 years of experience monitoring and troubleshooting Linux systems and applications
- 3 years of experience supporting environment scaling and performance monitoring
- 7 years of experience performing Linux OS patching and vulnerability management
- 3 years of experience implementing cookie security, browser security, server-side encryption, and encryption at rest
- 3 years of experience managing Red Hat image lifecycle processes
- 3 years of experience working with AWS infrastructure services including EC2, S3, RDS, ELB, SSM, and EBS
- 5 years of experience installing and maintaining services such as Bind, Apache, Nginx, and MySQL
- 5 years of experience using automation/configuration tools such as Ansible, CloudFormation, Puppet, or Chef
- 7 years of experience scripting using Bash or Python
- 3 years of experience supporting AWS networking concepts including VPCs, subnets, and routing
- 3 years of experience using network tools such as iptables, IPVS, and HAProxy
- 3 years of experience analyzing and interpreting network traffic
- 2 years of experience supporting protocols such as DNS, HTTP, LDAP, SMTP, and SNMP
- 3 years of experience troubleshooting Apache performance and restart issues
- 5 years of experience supporting volume management technologies including SVM, LVM, ZFS, NAS, and Veritas Volume Manager
- 3 years of experience implementing AWS cloud security controls and best practices
- 1 year of experience configuring VLANs, VPNs, routing, IPv4, and IPv6 networking environments
- 7 years of experience managing enterprise-scale Linux user account environments
Preferred Qualifications
- Linux certifications such as RHCT, RHCE, LPIC, LFCS, or RHCSA
- Experience working with AWS storage services including FSx and EFS
- Experience supporting hybrid cloud enterprise application environments
Additional Requirements
- Candidate must be available onsite 2–3 days per week in Raleigh, NC
- Candidate must support evening/weekend on-call rotations when required
- Candidate must list hands-on AWS tools and Linux certifications at submission
