JOB CLASSIFICATION: Part-time 20 hours per week / Non-Exempt

LOCATION: This opportunity is based in Westchester County, New York – in-person in MSP’s White Plains office.

JOB OVERVIEW: The Pro Bono Volunteer Coordinator (PBVC) provides administrative program support and training to MSP’s pro bono volunteer attorneys, law students and Sister-in-Law volunteers. The PBVC works directly with the Attorney who runs the pro bono program to develop and expand MSP’s pro bono practice and its specially trained corps of volunteers who provide MSP clients with supportive telephone interpretations, document translations, accompaniment to appointments at family and immigration court, interactions with government agencies, interviews or in other contexts where clients may need encouragement.

RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:

• Manage pro bono database to track volunteer data, training and volunteer hours donated
• Interview, screen, train and mentor new volunteers
• Develop and update training materials, schedule and participate in training new volunteers
• Convene volunteers on a quarterly basis for ongoing training and peer-to-peer support
• Partner with MSP attorneys and advocates to schedule SIL support
• Monitor program outcomes using Apricot database and meet funders’ grant reporting requirements
• Support MSP’s philosophy and guiding principles
• Work closely to facilitate ongoing conversations around MSP’s volunteer philosophy
• Develop and maintain strong and supportive partnerships with neighboring agencies

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRMENTS:

• Bachelor's degree
• Experience working in a legal setting
• Volunteer management and training experience

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Strong interpersonal skills
• Excellent communication and organizational skills
• Work well cross-departments and with diverse communities
• Other language proficiencies a plus

Pay rate: $25.00 per hour
