About Us

MY Play Café – Northland KC is a small, woman-owned business located in Kansas City, MO. We are an indoor play café designed for young children (ages 6 months–6 years) and the adults who love them. Our space combines a safe, engaging play environment with a cozy café serving coffee, tea, boba, smoothies, and snacks.

In addition to daily open play, we host children’s birthday parties and special events. Our mission is to give families peace of mind while creating joyful, memorable experiences. We are high-energy, positive, child-focused, and super fun. Since opening in June 2024, we’ve grown quickly and are excited to continue expanding our team!

Job Overview

We are seeking an enthusiastic Party Host / Barista to join our growing team. This role is perfect for someone who loves kids, enjoys coffee, thrives in a fast-paced environment, and takes pride in delivering exceptional customer experiences.

As a Party Host / Barista, you will help create magical celebrations, ensure events run smoothly, and prepare high-quality beverages for our guests.

Responsibilities

  • Greet guests warmly, guide them through the check-in process and review rules with them
  • Prepare and serve high-quality beverages efficiently
  • Maintain cleanliness of café, workstations, and play areas
  • Set up, decorate, and break down private parties and events
  • Ensure parties and events run smoothly and on schedule
  • Assist with selling memberships, parties, and event tickets
  • Restock supplies and assist with general café operations, including inventory
  • Adhere to food safety regulations and quality standards
  • Collaborate with teammates and support all roles as needed
  • Engage positively and safely with children and families
  • Assist with light content creation when needed

Qualifications & Experience

  • Previous experience in food & beverage, customer service, or events preferred
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Friendly, engaging, and professional demeanor
  • Ability to walk, bend, lift, and stand for extended periods
  • Creative, organized, and detail-oriented
  • Comfortable working in a high-energy, fast-paced environment
  • Passion for working with children and families
  • Team-oriented with a positive attitude
  • Ability to work independently

Requirements

  • Food Handler’s Permit (required within 14 days of employment)
  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Must be at least 18 years of age

Hours & Availability

  • Approximately 10–20 hours per week (not to exceed 40 hours)
  • Must be able to work at least one weekday shift (3–8 hours)
  • Available most Saturdays and Sundays
  • Shifts are typically 4–8 hours
  • Schedule and total hours vary based on parties and events
  • Must be able to open (7:45 am or 8:45 am depending on the day)
