Field Estimator
My Painter & Exteriors is a leading residential and commercial painting and exterior contracting company serving Northern Virginia, Washington DC, and Maryland. Our services include interior and exterior painting, roofing, siding, windows, residential exterior remodeling, and light residential interior renovations. On the commercial side, we provide finish work including painting, flooring, lighting, wall coverings, and exterior envelope improvements.
We are seeking a detail-oriented Field Estimator to support our sales team by collecting accurate project information during onsite visits. This role is responsible for documenting existing conditions, taking measurements, capturing photos, identifying project requirements, and preparing complete job information so our sales team can efficiently develop proposals.
This position is ideal for someone who enjoys being in the field, has an eye for detail, and wants to grow within a rapidly expanding company. While this role is not responsible for selling or managing customer relationships, it serves as a critical part of our sales process and provides opportunities for advancement into full-time estimating, sales, project management, or other operational leadership positions.
Key Responsibilities
- Visit residential and commercial properties to perform site evaluations
- Take accurate measurements of buildings, rooms, elevations, roofs, windows, and other project areas
- Capture detailed photos and videos documenting existing conditions
- Identify project scope, access requirements, and potential challenges
- Document notes that allow the sales team to prepare accurate proposals without returning to the site
- Create organized field reports using CompanyCam, PaintScout, Monday.com, and other company systems
- Verify quantities and measurements for estimating purposes
- Coordinate with sales representatives regarding project details and clarification when needed
- Communicate any unusual site conditions or scope concerns to the estimating team
- Ensure all required documentation is completed accurately and submitted promptly
- Maintain a professional appearance and represent the company positively during onsite visits
- Participate in weekly team meetings and ongoing process improvements
Team Structure
The Field Estimator works closely with the Sales Team and Operations Department, serving as the primary field resource responsible for gathering accurate project information. This role allows our sales representatives to focus on building client relationships and closing projects while ensuring estimates are based on complete and reliable field data.
Qualifications
- Construction experience preferred
- Ability to accurately measure and quantify
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
- Comfortable using smartphones, tablets, and software applications in the field
- Ability to read plans and understand construction terminology is a plus
- Self-motivated and capable of working independently
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Comfortable working outdoors in varying weather conditions
- Valid driver's license with a clean driving record
- Clean criminal history

Compensation
- Hourly wage based on experience
- Performance bonus based on a percentage of gross revenue from projects you help estimate that are successfully sold
Pay: $47,500.00 - $60,500.00 per year
