Schedule: Full-time, M-F, 8am-5pm, On-Site/In-clinic * NOT remote *

Pay: $17.00-$18.00 hourly (depending on experience)

My Left Foot Children’s Therapy was founded 20 years ago, with the same mission that we still hold dear today – “to make a REAL difference in the life of EACH child who walks through our doors.” At My Left Foot Children’s Therapy, we provide outpatient pediatric physical therapy, occupational therapy, and speech therapy to thousands of children every week. We currently have 6 pediatric outpatient clinics located in Las Vegas, NV, and the surrounding cities and communities of Henderson, North Las Vegas, Summerlin, and Green Valley. About the Position:

The Patient Financial Services Specialists at My Left Foot Children’s Therapy play a vital role of ensuring that the pediatric patients who have been referred to My Left Foot Children’s Therapy are able to receive the physical therapy, occupational therapy, speech therapy, and feeding therapy they need. Our PFS Specialists perform a variety of billing functions in order to ensure effective and efficient revenue cycle management. This is a full-time, Monday-Friday position, working onsite daily.

Your Responsibilities as our Patient Financial Services Specialist:

  • Be a vital part of a dynamic team of Patient Financial Services Specialists
  • Submit electronic claims in a timely manner for each patient’s daily therapy sessions and make necessary corrections to returned claims that are flagged by the clearinghouse
  • Submit secondary claims as needed either electronically or as paper claims
  • Post electronic claim payments (ERA) daily to the appropriate patient accounts and adjust the accounts as needed to properly update patient responsibility
  • Review the detailed aging report weekly and follow up on all claims 30 days and older. Keep the percentage of outstanding charges 90 days and older under 10%
  • Monitor claim payments to ensure proper fee schedule rate is paid. Notify PFS Manager of any abnormal claim payments or denials
  • Mail patient statements monthly to ensure collection of patient responsibility
  • Update patient accounts in EMR system for deductibles, copays and coinsurance
  • Review the daily charge sheet for each facility to ensure copays and coinsurance are updated in EMR system.
  • Update patient insurance information in EMR system when needed and inform the PFS coordinators of changes so they can review the authorization requirements
  • Assist the PFS coordinators with the verification of insurance eligibility and benefits for new patients as needed
  • Request new referrals from PCP offices when claims are denied due to non-certified NPIs
  • Review clearinghouse reporting daily for denied and zero paid claims and resolve accordingly
  • Submit appeals for claim denials as needed
  • Process and balance upfront collections on a weekly basis for each facility
  • Effectively communicate with PFS manager all issues related to PFS operations
  • Communicate with front desk admin staff as needed to ensure proper collection of deductibles, copays and coinsurance
  • Assist the PFS coordinators and Intake Specialists when they have questions regarding patient’s deductible, copay or coinsurance
  • Maintain a list of all in network insurance plans and share it with PFS Coordinators and Intake Specialists
  • Call patients as needed to clarify or update insurance information. This includes claim denials for coordination of benefits. Follow up on all patient communication as needed
  • Maintain strictest confidentiality by adhering to all HIPAA guidelines and regulations
  • Use exceptional interpersonal skills when interacting or communicating with My Left Foot Children’s Therapy employees, patients, providers, payors, referrers, or vendors
  • Handle patient questions and/or concerns with exceptional courtesy, kindness, and respect, and in a timely manner
  • Maintain confidentiality and respect for personal information of patients and employees of My Left Foot Children’s Therapy
  • Uphold the mission, ethics, policies, and procedural standards of My Left Foot Children’s Therapy
  • Foster a culture of inclusivity, equality, and respect between our employees, our management, our patients, and our community
  • Report directly to the Patient Financial Services Manager

Education:

  • Associates degree in a business or healthcare related field (preferred)

Qualifications:

  • Job longevity of at least 2 years at one company within the past 3 years

Experience:

  • Must possess at least one year of experience working in a healthcare setting

Physical Requirements:

  • Sitting for extended periods of time
  • Hand and eye functioning necessary to work on computers for extended periods of time
