Position Summary
The Lead Toddler Teacher is responsible for creating a safe, nurturing, organized, and developmentally appropriate classroom for young children. This position supports toddlers as they develop independence, communication, social-emotional skills, and important early learning skills through play and daily routines.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain the health, safety, and active supervision of all children.
- Create a warm, welcoming, organized, and engaging toddler classroom.
- Plan and implement developmentally appropriate, hands-on learning experiences.
- Follow MKC curriculum and classroom expectations.
- Support language development, social-emotional skills, independence, and positive behavior.
- Assist children with daily routines, including meals, diapering, toileting, handwashing, and rest time.
- Observe and document children's development using Teaching Strategies GOLD and other required assessment tools.
- Maintain accurate classroom records and required documentation.
- Communicate regularly and professionally with families through Procare and in-person conversations.
- Share appropriate classroom updates and photos with families.
- Maintain classroom cleanliness, organization, and sanitation.
- Work cooperatively with assistant teachers and support staff.
- Build positive relationships with children, families, and coworkers.
- Follow all MKC policies and Ohio childcare licensing requirements.
- Participate in staff meetings, training, professional development, and center events.
- Be dependable, punctual, flexible, and willing to support the needs of the center.
Qualifications
- Previous experience working with toddlers or young children preferred.
- CDA, Associate's Degree, Bachelor's Degree, or coursework in Early Childhood Education or a related field preferred.
- Must meet all Ohio childcare licensing requirements for the position.
- CPR/First Aid certification or willingness to obtain certification.
- Strong communication and organizational skills.
- Ability to work positively and professionally as part of a team.
- Patience, energy, and a genuine passion for working with toddlers.
