Full-Time Weekend Swing Direct Care Staff
Job Summary
My Friends Place Teen Shelter in Kennewick is seeking one full-time Weekend Swing Direct Care Staff member to provide supervision, support, and mentorship for youth experiencing homelessness. This role is ideal for someone who is compassionate, dependable, and committed to helping vulnerable teens build stability and independence.
Schedule:
- Friday: 3:00 p.m. – 12:00 a.m.
- Saturday: 12:00 p.m. – 12:00 a.m.
- Sunday: 12:00 p.m. – 12:00 a.m.
Essential Duties
- Provide a safe, supportive, and stable environment for shelter residents.
- Build positive, mentoring relationships with youth.
- Teach and reinforce independent living and life skills.
- Assist with light housekeeping, organization, and meal preparation.
- Complete daily logs, incident reports, client intakes, and maintain accurate client files.
- Assist with medication management in accordance with agency policies.
- Collaborate effectively with coworkers and communicate as part of a team.
Qualifications
- Experience working with vulnerable populations is preferred. Relevant education and/or lived experience may be substituted for work experience.
- Knowledge of local community resources and support services is preferred.
- Must meet one of the following minimum qualifications:
- High school diploma or GED and at least 1 year of relevant experience;
- Associate degree and at least 6 months of relevant experience; or
- Bachelor's degree in Social Work, Psychology, Sociology, Human Services, Counseling, Criminal Justice, or a related social science field.
- Must successfully pass Washington State Patrol (WSP) and Child Abuse/Neglect (CA/N) background checks.
- Must be at least 21 years of age.
