Job Summary
We are seeking a professional and detail-oriented Dental Receptionist to join our dental practice. Duties
- Greet patients warmly and provide exceptional front desk customer service
- Schedule, confirm, and reschedule patient appointments using systems such as Eaglesoft, Dentrix, or other EMR/EHR platforms
- Verify insurance coverage and perform insurance verification procedures
- Manage patient check-in and check-out processes with attention to accuracy and HIPAA compliance
- Collect payments, process co-pays, and handle medical billing using CPT coding, ICD-9/10 coding, and Meditech or similar billing software
- Maintain accurate and organized medical records in compliance with health information management standards
- Review documentation for completeness and accuracy before submission or filing
- Answer multi-line phone systems with professional phone etiquette; handle inquiries efficiently
- Assist with medical administrative support including filing, data entry, and documentation review
- Support clinic operations by managing appointment schedules and coordinating care plans as needed
- Ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations and maintain confidentiality of patient information
Experience
- Prior experience in a dental or medical office environment is highly preferred, including familiarity with dental terminology, medical terminology, ICD coding, ICD-10/ICD-9 coding, CPT coding, and insurance billing procedures
- Proficiency with dental practice management software such as Eaglesoft or Dentrix is essential; experience with EMR/EHR systems like Epic, Meditech, Athenahealth, eClinicalWorks is advantageous
- Strong computer skills including Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel) and typing skills (including 10-key typing) are required
- Demonstrated ability to handle multi-line phone systems efficiently while maintaining professionalism in patient interactions
- Knowledge of HIPAA regulations and health information management practices is necessary
- Bilingual skills are considered a significant asset for serving diverse patient populations
- Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment
- Previous experience in a dental clinic or healthcare setting enhances candidacy but is not mandatory; training will be provided for specific software platforms
