Duties
- Assist dentists during a variety of dental procedures, including general dentistry, prosthodontics, endodontics, and pediatric dentistry.
- Prepare treatment rooms with necessary instruments and supplies, ensuring aseptic techniques are strictly followed.
- Take and develop X-rays and other medical imaging, including 3D scans when applicable.
- Record vital signs and medical history, ensuring accurate documentation in electronic health records (EHR) systems such as Eaglesoft or Dentrix.
- Manage patient flow efficiently as a dental receptionist, scheduling appointments and updating medical records while maintaining HIPAA compliance.
- Perform chairside assisting with four-handed dentistry techniques to enhance procedure efficiency.
- Educate patients on dental terminology, post-treatment care, and preventive practices.
- Maintain infection control protocols and ensure all equipment is sterilized according to industry standards.
- Support the dental team with administrative tasks related to medical coding, billing, and record keeping for pediatrics or specialized treatments.
Experience
- Previous experience working in a dental clinic setting is highly preferred.
- Familiarity with EMR systems such as Eaglesoft, Dentrix, or Epic is advantageous.
- Knowledge of HIPAA regulations, medical terminology, and anatomy relevant to dentistry is essential.
- Experience with X-ray procedures, medical imaging (including 3D scanners), and infection control practices is desirable.
- Background in pediatric dentistry or working with pediatric patients is a plus.
- Certification in dental assisting or related fields is preferred but not mandatory; on-the-job training will be provided for qualified candidates eager to learn new skills in general dentistry specialties such as prosthodontics or endodontics.
