Summary

The In-School Branch Instructor will lead and oversee daily operations at My Community Credit Union’s (MCCU) student-operated branch inside Lovejoy High School, Lucas, TX. This individual will serve as a mentor and instructor to student tellers, helping them understand and practice key financial service functions such as new member onboarding, account transactions, debit card service, introductory lending concepts and basic financial education.

Knowledge and Skills:

  • Teaching or instructional experience preferred (substitute teaching, tutoring, classroom facilitation, or youth mentorship).
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills; able to relate to and motivate high school students.
  • Basic knowledge of financial services or willingness to learn MCCU systems and practices.
  • Ability to work independently while maintaining connection with MCCU branch support team.
  • Strong organizational skills with attention to detail.
  • Professional demeanor with a positive, service-oriented attitude.

Essential Functions & Responsibilities:

  • Guide and coach student tellers on daily credit union operations, systems, and member service expectations.
  • Provide hands-on training in core services such as opening new accounts, conducting basic transactions, and issuing debit cards.
  • Foster an engaging learning environment, reinforcing MCCU values and professionalism.
  • Collaborate with school faculty and administration to maintain a positive relationship and support program goals.
  • Represent MCCU at special events, financial literacy fairs, or student/parent orientations as needed.
  • Ensure adherence to operational, regulatory, and security procedures at all times.
  • Coordinate with MCCU leadership and branch management on scheduling, supply needs, and student performance.
  • Conduct interviews for the student selection process. 
  • Evaluate program effectiveness through assessments and feedback.
  • Suggest improvements to the existing or proposed training plan. Implement approved changes.


Working Conditions

  • Occasional attendance at MCCU-sponsored events outside of the standard work schedule may be required.
  • Occasional travel to MCCU’s Allen Branch may be required for training or coordination.
  • Approximately 27 hours per week; hourly pay commensurate with experience. Hours are 9-2, but subject to change.
  • Must pass background checks required for working in a school setting.

Physical Requirements:

  1. Constantly repeating motions that may include the wrists, hands and/or fingers. This includes but may not be limited to keyboarding, writing, and filing.
  2. Constantly remaining in a stationary position, often sitting for prolonged periods. 
  3. Occasionally adjusting or moving objects up to 75 pounds for various needs.
  4. The person in this position constantly communicates in person and in writing with members, managers, and colleagues. Must be able to exchange accurate information in these situations.
  5. The ability to observe details at close range to assess the accuracy, neatness, and thoroughness of the work assigned.
