Mobile Vehicle Inspector

My Car Inspector is seeking experienced and detail-oriented Mobile Vehicle Inspectors to join our growing network of independent automotive professionals.

We specialize in providing professional pre-purchase vehicle inspections to help customers make informed decisions before purchasing used vehicles.

This is an excellent opportunity for experienced automotive technicians, mechanics, and vehicle inspectors who want to earn additional income while maintaining a flexible schedule.

As an independent contractor, you will travel to dealerships, private sellers, and other vehicle locations to perform comprehensive inspections and document vehicle conditions using our digital inspection platform.

Responsibilities

• Perform thorough pre-purchase inspections on used vehicles.
• Inspect engines, transmissions, suspension, brakes, steering, tires, and other mechanical components.
• Examine vehicle frames, undercarriages, and structural components for damage, corrosion, or previous repairs.
• Identify signs of accidents, body repairs, paintwork, and potential mechanical problems.
• Perform OBD-II diagnostic scans and document trouble codes.
• Conduct test drives when permitted and evaluate vehicle performance.
• Take clear, detailed photographs of inspected vehicles.
• Complete accurate inspection reports using our mobile-friendly digital platform.
• Communicate inspection findings professionally and objectively.
• Arrive on time and complete assigned inspections efficiently.

Requirements

• Previous professional experience in automotive repair, diagnostics, or vehicle inspections.
• Strong understanding of automotive mechanical systems and vehicle conditions.
• Ability to identify mechanical issues, accident damage, and signs of previous repairs.
• Must have your own automotive inspection tools, including an OBD-II diagnostic scanner.
• Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
• Smartphone or tablet with internet access.
• Ability to travel independently to inspection locations.
• Strong attention to detail and professional communication skills.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
• Must carry appropriate liability insurance for automotive inspection services.

Preferred Qualifications

• ASE certification or equivalent automotive experience.
• Previous experience performing pre-purchase vehicle inspections.
• Experience inspecting luxury, exotic, classic, or commercial vehicles.
• Familiarity with advanced automotive diagnostic equipment.
• Experience with digital vehicle inspection reporting systems.
