Summary

My After School Program is a great company to be a part of.
We are looking to hire GREAT people to be key members of our fun After School Program TEAM for the current school year!
Location: Warren T. Jackson Elementary School
We love people who are energetic, creative, dependable, and a self-starter with a team-focus.
Hours of employment are Monday-Friday from 1:30-5:30, 6:00 (on occassion).
Pay range: $15-$28 per hour, depending on education, experience, certifications.
We are looking to hire quickly - would need a candidate who can be available to start within 2 weeks (preferably 1 week) of hire date
CPR/First Aid required
Training required and provided
Clear Background Check Required

Duties

Under limited supervision, the Teacher will develop, organize, schedule activities while supervising children in the afterschool program for kindergarten through 5th grade students. Teachers must maintain a professional working relationship with school administration, parents, students, team members and school staff. The mindset of the Teacher is that of team. Working as a team to get the job done, focusing on what is best for the children and the program.
  • Plan, prepare, and implement age-appropriate lessons and activities.
  • Assist children with their homework or assignment such as reading, writing, and mathematical calculations
  • Prepare learning materials and equipment, such as books, arts, crafts, stationery, and other supplies needed
  • Supervise daily lesson plans and activities that focus on enhancing children’s social and motor skills
  • Interact with children to provide guidance, emotional support, and also the motivation to complete tasks
  • Update parents about the performance of children by creating monthly or quarterly reports to monitor children’s academic performance and growth
  • Interact with parents to build a safe learning environment for children
  • Maintain an organized or clean learning environment and ensuring students conduct themselves appropriately
  • Ensure that students are highly disciplined and obey all the program guidelines and instructions
  • Establish a friendly, encouraging, and welcoming environment for students once they start the afterschool program
  • Promote high standards for academic success and behavior and continually encourage students to meet them.
  • Teaching age-appropriate skills to improve academic performance and support social and emotional growth
  • Serves as role model for students displaying encouragement, fair play, skill development & discipline
  • Keep the highest priority on the safety & well-being of students
  • Responsible for working together with other teachers to develop enrichment activities plans
  • Addresses parent/student concerns with Director
  • Communicate with parents regarding challenges or situations with their child with the Director present
  • Addresses student issues that may arise with other students
  • Create plans for students with any special concerns/needs to help the child to be successful.
  • Enforces safety & operating procedures so staff and students can comply with health and safety requirements.


Requirements
  • Ability to relate well to parents, teachers, students, peers, and other staff.
  • Ability to problem solve effectively.
  • Ability to effectively communicate with team and the ability to be a flexible team member
  • Strong leadership skills
  • Experience working with children- At least 2 years of working with school-age children
  • Experience planning age-appropriate activities
  • First Aid/CPR certification
  • Ability to enhance the fun and safe classroom environment conducive to learning
  • Strong knowledge of child behavior and learning style
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to set standards and guidelines for students to follow
  • Solid organizational skills and ability to maintain a clean classroom or learning environment
  • Passion and excitement for the children and their learning needs
  • Personal accountability and reliability
  • Ability to teach students of all ages according to their level of understanding and proficiency
