Aviation Educational Training Aids Fabricator Technician

MX Training Systems
Sanford, FL Full Time | Part Time
POSTED ON 8/31/2026
AVAILABLE BEFORE 12/28/2026

MX Training Systems is a trusted provider of innovative, hands-on educational training aids for FAA Part 147 aviation maintenance schools. Our mission is to strengthen the future of aviation maintenance by giving students realistic, high-quality training equipment that aligns with industry standards.

We specialize in customized solutions designed around each school’s curriculum and training needs. In addition to building aviation system trainers and instructional mock-ups, we source aircraft, disassemble them, transport them, and reassemble them at customer locations—giving students the opportunity to learn using real-world aircraft and components.

Our shop is located in Sanford, Florida, near the Orlando Sanford International Airport.

About the Position

We are looking for an experienced aviation professional to join our team as an Aviation Training Systems Technician.

This position is preferably part-time, working Monday through Wednesday. However, we may consider a full-time position depending on the candidate’s experience, technical abilities, and overall skill set.

Working alongside two other technicians, you will help build educational trainers, system mock-ups, and other hands-on teaching aids for aviation maintenance students. This is an ideal position for someone with extensive aviation experience—or a retired aviation professional—who wants to use that knowledge to help train the next generation of aircraft mechanics.

Most of our trainers have already been designed or previously built. We need someone who can understand the concept, solve practical problems, and help turn our ideas into finished, functional training equipment.

Responsibilities

  • Build and assemble aviation maintenance training aids and system mock-ups
  • Install and connect aircraft components, wiring, switches, controls, gauges, and related systems
  • Fabricate brackets, mounts, panels, and other components needed to complete each project
  • Assist with the design, development, and improvement of educational training equipment
  • Read and interpret aircraft manuals, wiring diagrams, schematics, and technical information
  • Troubleshoot mechanical and electrical systems
  • Organize components and materials for each build
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work area
  • Occasionally assist with aircraft disassembly, transportation, and on-site reassembly
  • Work collaboratively with our technicians, management, and other team members

Preferred Qualifications

  • Approximately 10 or more years of aviation industry experience preferred
  • A&P certificate preferred, but not required for a candidate with strong aviation knowledge and technical abilities
  • Strong understanding of aviation systems, components, concepts, and terminology
  • Aircraft electrical experience is highly desirable—nearly every trainer we build incorporates an electrical system
  • Ability to read wiring diagrams and perform basic electrical troubleshooting
  • Mechanical aptitude and hands-on fabrication skills
  • Ability to creatively design or fabricate brackets, mounts, and attachment solutions
  • Experience using common hand tools, power tools, and shop equipment
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
  • Ability to work independently while also contributing as part of a team
  • Welding experience is helpful but not required; we currently have two team members who handle welding

The Right Person for Our Team

Technical ability matters, but attitude and teamwork are equally important to us.

We are a close-knit team of nine people who genuinely enjoy coming to work. The atmosphere we have created in our shop is one of the most important parts of our company. We work hard, solve unusual problems, build some very cool things, and have fun doing it.

We are looking for someone who wants to be here just as much as we want them here—someone dependable, creative, positive, and excited to help further the future of aviation.

Having fun is required.
