Apprentice- Cold Header

Job Summary

This apprenticeship is designed to provide hands-on training in operating, setting up, and maintaining cold heading and four/multi-slide forming machines. The apprentice will learn from experienced technicians and gain the technical skills required to produce precision metal components in a production environment.

Essential Job Function

• Assist with the setup, operation, and maintenance of multi-slide and four-slide machines.
• Learn from skilled machinist to select, install, align dies, rolls, cutting tools, guides and stops to set up machines.
• Learn to read and interpret blueprints, work orders, and engineering drawings.
• Observe and follow quality control procedures to ensure product specifications are met.
• Support senior machinists with tooling changes, adjustments, and troubleshooting.
• Conduct basic machine maintenance and cleaning tasks.
• Measure and inspect parts using calipers, micrometers, and gauges.
• Keep work area clean and organized according to safety and 5S standards.
• Complete appropriate production paperwork as needed.
• Maintain a clean and safe working environment and follow all safety regulations and procedures.

Skills and Abilities

• Strong mechanical aptitude and eagerness to learn.
• Ability to read basic technical drawings or blueprints.
• Willingness to work in a fast-paced, hands-on production environment.
• Good communication skills and ability to take direction.
• Basic math skills and understanding of measurement units.

Education and Experience

• High school diploma or GED required; vocational training in machining or manufacturing is a plus.
• 1-2 yrs working in a precision manufacturing environment, preferably. 

Physical Requirements and Work Environment

This role is required to stand, walk, and bend multiple hours. Employee must be able to lift, carry, push, and pull up to 50lbs. The work environment is noisy.

Salary : $18 - $20
