Equipment Operator

Position Summary

The Equipment Operator will be responsible for operating a variety of heavy equipment to assist with Solar/Electrical contracting projects. This includes excavating, trenching, grading, backfilling, and forming and pouring concrete pads. Additionally, the Equipment Operator will perform some electrical work, including running conduit and assisting electricians. A DOT Medical Card is required for this position.

Tasks / Duties / Responsibilities

· Operate heavy equipment, including but not limited to excavators, skid loaders, telehandlers and dump trucks to complete various assigned tasks.

· Perform grading and backfilling tasks to prepare sites for electrical installations.

· Form and pour concrete pads for electrical equipment.

· Work alongside crews, assisting with digging ditches, trenches, hoisting material, tools, equipment, and any related work.

· Ensure all work is performed safely and in compliance with company and industry standards.

· Maintain and inspect equipment to ensure it is in proper working condition.

· Perform routine inspection and maintenance on vehicles, such as checking oil, water, and tires.

· Follow project plans and specifications to ensure accurate and timely completion of tasks.

· Collaborate with team members to achieve project goals and meet deadlines.

· Perform other duties as assigned.

Skills / Abilities / Attributes

· Proven experience operating excavating equipment, including, mini excavators, skid loaders, backhoes, telehandlers and dump trucks.

· Knowledge of grading, trenching, and backfilling techniques.

· Experience with forming and pouring concrete pads.

· Basic understanding of electrical work, including running conduit.

· Ability to read and interpret project plans and specifications.

· Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills.

· Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.

· Ability to lift and carry heavy objects up to 80lbs

· Prolonged periods of standing, walking, and operating equipment.

· Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions.

· Manual dexterity and physical stamina.

Education, Experience, and/or Certification Requirements

· High school diploma or equivalent.

· DOT Medical Card is required (or able to get in first 30 days).

· OSHA certification preferred.

· Able to work out of town (home on weekends).
