PARALEGAL

Moore & Van Allen PLLC, a dynamic and fast-growing full-service law firm of more than 400 attorneys and professionals, is seeking an experienced Paralegal to join its Charleston, SC office. The paralegal will perform a variety of duties and legal tasks to provide clients with the most time-efficient and cost-effective service. Provides research and drafting assistance, document organization, and maintains positive client contact and confidentiality of client matters.

What You’ll Do: 

• Conducts research and locates cases, depositions, opinions, reports, or other information related to the matter.
• Drafts and/or prepares documents related to specialty areas (e.g., tax returns, estate accountings, petitions, affidavits, probate documents, retirement plans, deposition digests, motions, pleadings, incorporation documents, audit letters, memorandums, newsletter articles, etc.).
• Reviews, proofs, revises, and organizes documents in preparation for trials, closings, transfers of assets and distributions, or other matters.
• Schedules and participates in meetings or conferences related to specialty area (e.g., court appearances, depositions, client conferences, closings, etc.).
• Provides analysis and input regarding the development of strategies.
• Prepares filings for specialty areas (e.g., UCCs, estate filings, court documents, etc.).
• Maintains expertise in the assigned specialty area.
• Performs additional duties and responsibilities as assigned.
• Regular and in-person attendance is required to perform the essential functions of this interactive position.

What We’re Looking For:

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of experience and education required.
• At least one year of experience in a paralegal role, experience in Commercial Real Estate a plus; Paralegal certification preferred.
• Must have strong communication and problem-solving skills.
• Must have intermediate to advanced experience with the Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word and Excel).

Physical Requirements:

• The work is primarily sedentary.
• It requires the ability to communicate effectively using speech, vision, and hearing.
• The work requires the use of hands for simple grasping and fine manipulations.
• The work at times requires bending, squatting, and reaching, with the ability to lift, carry, push, or pull light weights. Retrieve and replace objects from shelves up to 8 feet high.
• Capacity to lift objects weighing up to 20lbs. 

Note: This position will be 100% on-site in our Charleston Office.
