Thrift Store Sales Clerk

Position Summary
The Thrift Store Sales Clerk serves as the welcoming face of Mustard Seed Ministries' Thrift Stores. This individual greets customers, clients, and guests with a warm, positive, and uplifting attitude, ensuring that every person entering the store feels valued and respected. Often working independently on the sales floor, the Sales Clerk is responsible for answering questions about merchandise and pricing, maintaining an organized and inviting shopping environment, pricing donated goods, and managing all aspects of the checkout process, including operating the register and handling transactions accurately. As one of the first points of contact with our organization, the Sales Clerk plays a key role in representing the mission and values of Mustard Seed Ministries professionally and courteously.

WEEKLY SCHEDULE: Approximately 20 hours per week. Fridays from 8:30 to 5:30, Saturdays from 8:30 to 4:30, and one other day during the week. This position will be scheduled primarily in our Fort Pierce thrift store, (3130 S US Highway 1, Fort Pierce) but may occasionally work in our Port St. Lucie location (8311 S US Highway 1, Port St. Lucie).

Responsibilities

• Greet all customers, clients, and guests with a warm, friendly, and respectful demeanor.
• Provide information about store merchandise, pricing, and promotions to customers.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and welcoming sales floor environment.
• Arrange merchandise displays and restock items to ensure product availability.
• Receive, sort, and price donated items in accordance with store guidelines.
• Ensure all merchandise is clean, properly tagged, and displayed attractively.
• Operate the cash register and handle all aspects of the checkout process.
• Accurately process sales, returns, and exchanges.
• Handle cash, credit, and other payment methods responsibly and securely.
• Responsible for opening and closing cash register procedures and daily bank deposits.
• Keeping the sales counter area clean and disinfected.
• Working with and directing volunteers.
• Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma/GED – Required
• 2 years of previous retail and customer service experience preferred
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills
• Dependable and self-motivated
• Basic math skills
• Attention to detail
• Positive attitude and willingness to support Mustard Seed’s values
• Must have reliable transportation

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: From $14.50 per hour

Expected hours: 20 – 25 per week
