JOB TITLE: Manager of Food Services
STATUS: Exempt, Full-Time
LOCATION: Fort Pierce, FL

JOB SUMMARY
The Manager of Food Services oversees Mustard Seed Ministries’ food distribution operations, including the coordination of our food pantries and Sarah’s Kitchen program. This senior management position is responsible for ensuring efficient, safe, and effective food intake, storage, and distribution across all sites. The role involves supervising staff and volunteers, managing inventory, procurement, logistics, vendor relations, and ensuring compliance with food safety standards.
As part of the Mustard Seed’s leadership team, the Director will collaborate with other departments to ensure that our food programs—Sarah’s Kitchen, food pantries, and community partnerships—operate with consistency, integrity, and excellence in serving the families of St. Lucie County.
ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Food Procurement and Distribution
- Oversee planning, organization, and daily operations of Mustard Seed’s food distribution center, including:
- Managing the intake, inventory, and distribution of food and goods.
- Developing and maintaining efficient systems for inventory control, procurement, and logistics.
- Ensuring health, safety, cleanliness, and security of all food storage and distribution facilities.
- Producing regular reports on inventory, distribution volume, and program outcomes.
- Reviewing and improving warehouse procedures for efficiency, safety, and effectiveness.
- Supervising food services staff and volunteers, including training and scheduling.
- Expanding food sourcing opportunities through partnerships, gleaning programs, and food drives.
- Managing vendor relationships to ensure quality and cost-effectiveness.
- Plan and execute all other food-related programs (Kids Summer Food Program, etc.)
Pantry Operations
- Direct the daily and long-range operational plans for Mustard Seed’s food pantries, including:
- Ensuring compliance with USDA and Treasure Coast Food Bank guidelines.
- Managing inventory levels, product rotation, and food safety practices.
- Coordinating food pick-ups and deliveries from retail partners, churches, and community donors.
- Supervising staff and volunteers responsible for pantry organization, client service, and restocking.
- Evaluating pantry operations and identifying strategies to increase capacity and improve service delivery.
Sarah’s Kitchen Oversight
Provide leadership and operational oversight for Sarah’s Kitchen, Mustard Seed's soup kitchen program:
- Coordinate with kitchen site leaders to ensure consistent service and communication across all locations.
- Manage the weekly delivery of food and supplies to each kitchen in collaboration with the distribution team.
- Monitor compliance with health and safety standards for food preparation and handling.
- Support site volunteers with menu planning, scheduling, and resource needs.
- Track meal service data and outcomes to evaluate program impact and efficiency.
- Strengthen community partnerships and volunteer engagement to sustain and grow Sarah’s Kitchen operations.
Leadership and Collaboration
Serve as an active member of Mustard Seed’s senior management team by:
- Contributing to strategic planning and organizational goals.
- Collaborating with other departments to coordinate outreach, data reporting, and community partnerships.
- Ensuring that all food service programs align with Mustard Seed’s mission of providing hope and stability to families in need.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Associate’s degree in business, logistics, nonprofit management, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
- Minimum 3–5 years of experience in food distribution, warehouse management, or related operations.
- Supervisory experience with staff and volunteers.
- Knowledge of food safety regulations, warehouse operations, and USDA/food bank guidelines.
- Ability to operate a pallet jack, forklift, electric stacker, and other small motorized equipment.
- Ability to drive a commercial truck and maintain a clean driving record.
- Computer proficiency required.
- Strong organizational, analytical, and communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
