Position Summary
As a Utility Line Locate Senior at Mustang Special Utility District, you will be essential in ensuring the safety of our potable water to our residential, commercial, and industrial customers. Your responsibilities will include operating our 811-ticket management system assuring locates are being done efficiently and reporting any issue to the Water Operations Supervisor. Your role is crucial in maintaining locate request and service reliability, ensuring customer satisfaction, and adhering to regulatory standards.
Essential Functions:
- Infrastructure Maintenance: Ability to read Geographic Information Systems (GIS) maps to determine location and size of water mains and valves, along with ability to edit maps to add appurtenances.

- Operational Duties: Locate and mark underground water mains, service lines, hydrant leads, valves, and associated facilities using electronic, acoustic, and other approved locating equipment.

- Work Management: Respond to 811/One-Call tickets, emergency locate requests, and priority assignments within required time frames. Ensure Utility Line Locate 1 technicians are performing duties within the required time frames. Report any incidents where contractors hit lines to Water Operations Supervisor.
- Customer Service: Respond to customer called in locate request through 811 in the normal locate window of 48 hours or 2 hours for emergency.
Safety and Compliance: Adhere to safety protocols and maintain a safe work environment. Ability to diagnose traffic control requirements and set up traffic cones, barricades and other devices, as necessary. Ensure all operations comply with TCEQ rules and regulations, as well as submit any necessary reports. Maintain thorough logs and records of operations and maintenance, using both written and electronic forms to support regulatory compliance and operational efficiency.

- Required: High School Diploma or Equivalent
Experience:
Required:
- 2 years of Water operations and/or maintenance experience.
- TCEQ Water Operator C License.
Preferred:
- 5 years of Water operations and/or maintenance experience.
- TCEQ Water Operator B License.
Work Environment and Physical Requirements
- Outdoor Setting: You will primarily work in an outdoor environment, utilizing standard equipment such as power tools, hand tools, trucks. Involving physical activity such as walking, climbing and handling the equipment.
- Schedule: Must be able to work outside of regular business hours to meet regulatory deadlines or respond to emergencies. This includes working early mornings, nights, weekends and holidays. Will also be subject to on-call rotation.
- Safety Gear: Consistently wear protective gear such as safety shoes, safety vests, gloves, and hard hats to ensure safety during fieldwork.
Conditions Of Employment:
- Must have a valid Class "C" Driver's License before employment (must obtain Texas Class "C" driver's license within 30 days of hire per state law).
- Must pass a drug test, criminal history background check, and social security number verification check.
- Must acquire Class A CDL within 6 months of employment.
