Position Summary
The Reclamation Operator I position at Mustang Special Utility District plays a crucial role in the day-to-day operations of the wastewater treatment plant. This position involves assisting with monitoring and maintaining the treatment process, helping to ensure compliance with environmental regulations, and assisting with regular maintenance on plant equipment. The WRF Operator I supports the operational team by assisting with data collection and analysis, chemical dosing management, and routine plant inspections to maintain efficiency. The Reclamation Operator I helps the District provide safe and reliable water services by supporting the plant's operational integrity and regulatory compliance.
Essential Functions:
- Plant Operations: Assist with treatment operations, ensuring optimal process efficiency and proper facility monitoring. This includes observing operations, assisting with collecting and testing samples, and reading instrumentation (SCADA). Conduct basic maintenance and repairs on plant equipment with minimum supervision, perform frequent equipment inspections, and help identify issues that need attention.
- Data Collection and Analysis: Assist gathering data from flow meters, lab equipment, and other monitoring devices. Help with analyzing the data to monitor plant performance and ensure compliance with regulatory standards.
- Chemical Management: Assist with adjusting chemical dosing, such as chlorine dosing, to ensure proper disinfection of plant effluent. Help calculate chemical feed dosages and ensure the calibration of all testing equipment.
- General Maintenance and Housekeeping: Work with the team to ensure the plant and surrounding areas are kept clean and organized, performing janitorial and landscaping duties as needed to ensure the plant is well maintained.
- Safety and Security: Adhere to safety guidelines and protocols, identifying and mitigating safety hazards. Participate in safety meetings and assist in implementing safety programs. Monitor the facility for security breaches and alert appropriate law enforcement agencies or Supervisor, as necessary.
Education:
- Required: High School Diploma or Equivalent.
Experience:
Preferred:
- Experience in wastewater treatment.
- Knowledge of MBR treatment plants.
- Wastewater Operator D License.
Work Environment and Physical Requirements
- Indoor and Outdoor Work: Works indoors and outdoors in office settings for field inspections. Requires adaptability to various environmental conditions.
- Fieldwork: Regularly conducts inspections and monitoring tasks, involving physical activity such as walking, climbing, and handling equipment.
- Safety Gear: Consistently wear protective gear such as safety shoes, gloves, and hard hats to ensure safety during fieldwork.
- Flexible Hours: May need to work outside regular office hours, including early mornings, evenings, or weekends, to meet regulatory deadlines or respond to emergencies.
Conditions Of Employment:
- Must have a valid Class "C" Driver's License before employment (must obtain Texas Class "C" driver's license within 30 days of hire per state law).
- Must pass a drug test, criminal history background check, and social security number verification check.
