2026-2027 School Year

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Assumes a leadership role in planning, developing and initiating an effective developmental guidance program for the school in cooperation with the site administration.
2. Works with all concerned persons in assisting in understanding and appreciating the individuality of each student.
3. Maintains a daily schedule of guidance/counseling.
4. Plans and leads classroom guidance designed to assist students to an increased awareness of self and others in the areas of academic success, problem solving, study skill, effective communication, and career awareness.
5. Works to identify and help in proper placement of exceptional students and maintains confidential and cumulative student records.
6. Works to identify students with social/emotional needs. Establish and coordinate support groups correlating with the District Student Assistance Program Philosophy.
7. Works with students on an individual basis in the solution of personal problems.
8. Interprets the guidance program to the community and provides community agencies with information on the needs of students.
9. Is responsible for student enrollment and schedule changes.
10. Monitors credits of each senior student at least twice a year, and each under classman once a year.
11. Provides information and assists students with scholarships, financial aid and the college admission process. Writes letters of recommendation for scholarships, college entrance, various awards, job applications, and military opportunities.
12. Coordinates enrollment, grades and attendance of career-tech students.
13. Coordinates college night activities as appropriate.
14. Coordinates the senior awards assembly.
15. Organizes scholarship recognition at graduation.
16. Notifies parents/guardians of credit deficiencies and provides information about recovery programs.
17. Coordinates parent/teacher conference as needed.
18. Coordinates early graduation procedures with student and parent when applicable.
19. Attends and participates in faculty meetings and professional development activities, and serves on committees as required.
20. Is actively involved in professional growth activities.
21. Completes reports and other school-related paperwork as required within stated timelines.
22. Accepts the responsibility and arrives punctually for activities and duties as assigned.
23. Establishes and maintains cooperative relations with co-workers.
24. Coordinates the distribution, administration and inventory of District and State-mandated testing in accordance with State and local regulations as assigned by the site administrator.
25. Maintains accurate, complete and correct records as required by law, District policy and administrative regulations.
26. Demonstrates stated criteria for effective counseling performance.
27. Maintains confidentiality.
28. Maintains appropriate emotional control, physical health and personal appearance.
29. Abides by all district, federal and state laws, policies and procedures.
30. Performs other duties as assigned by supervisor.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS: 

Ability to stand, walk, squat frequently.

Ability to lift up to 10 pounds frequently.

Ability to do outside duties in inclement weather.

Ability to walk or move long distances from location to location around the building multiple times each day.
