Department: Quality ControlJob SummaryWe are seeking a dependable and experienced Quality Control Technician for our ready mix concrete operation. This position is responsible for performing field and lab testing, monitoring concrete quality, assisting with mix designs, and ensuring materials and finished concrete meet company, project, DOT, and industry specifications.The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience in the concrete testing industry, a strong understanding of ready mix concrete, and the ability to work with plant personnel, drivers, dispatch, customers, and project inspectors.Key Responsibilities
- Perform fresh concrete testing, including slump, air content, temperature, unit weight, and making cylinders.
- Conduct field testing at job sites and plant locations as needed.
- Monitor concrete quality and consistency during production and delivery.
- Assist with concrete mix design development, adjustments, and troubleshooting.
- Review and maintain QC records, test reports, batch tickets, and project documentation.
- Communicate with plant managers, batch operators, drivers, dispatch, contractors, inspectors, and engineers.
- Investigate quality concerns and help determine corrective actions.
- Verify materials meet applicable specifications, including aggregates, cement, fly ash, admixtures, and water.
- Perform or coordinate compressive strength testing and cylinder management.
- Ensure compliance with ACI, ASTM, DOT, and project specifications.
- Support plant operations with moisture checks, aggregate gradations, yield checks, and mix performance reviews.
- Maintain testing equipment and ensure proper calibration and cleanliness.
- Promote a safe work environment and follow all company safety policies.
Required Qualifications
- ACI Concrete Field Testing Technician – Grade I certification required.
- Minimum 2 years of experience in the concrete testing industry.
- Experience with ready mix concrete testing and quality control procedures.
- Knowledge of ACI and ASTM concrete testing standards.
- Ability to read and understand project specifications and mix design requirements.
- Strong communication and documentation skills.
- Valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record.
- Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
- Ability to lift and handle concrete testing equipment and cylinders.
Preferred Qualifications
- ACI Concrete Strength Testing Technician Grade 1 Required / Grade II certification preferred.
- Concrete mix design experience strongly preferred.
- Experience working with DOT specifications.
- Experience with ready mix batching systems and plant operations.
- Aggregate testing experience, including gradations and moisture testing.
- Knowledge of admixtures and concrete performance troubleshooting.
Skills and Abilities

- Comfortable communicating with customers, inspectors, and internal staff.
- Good organizational skills and ability to maintain accurate records.

Work EnvironmentThis position involves both field and laboratory work. The employee will regularly visit job sites, ready mix plants, and testing areas.
