What are the responsibilities and job description for the Payroll Clerk position at Muskingum County Auditor's Office?
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Under the direction of the Muskingum County Auditor and general supervision of the Chief Administrator, provides support in the processing of payroll, processing new hire documents, pension reporting, state and federal tax reporting, and other related payroll transactions.
QUALIFICATIONS
Associate or bachelor’s degree in accounting/and or business, preferred: And/Or
Minimum of two (2) years of experience in the oversight of payroll operations is strongly preferred.
Computer skills and ability to work with multiple software systems as well as strong skills with MS Word and Excel.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Consistent and dependable attendance.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE POSITION
- Processes County payroll for employees and Elected Officials; processes direct deposits and payroll deductions; monthly pension reporting; quarterly state and federal tax reporting; employee taxable fringe benefits; processes Ohio Bureau of Employment Statistics quarterly reporting; garnishments and child support deductions; unemployment; verifies departmental retirement payouts; processes personnel action notices; W-2’s and year end payroll reports; and provides other administrative support.
WORKING CONDITIONS
- Works within the Auditor’s office, Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.(35 hours per week).
