What are the responsibilities and job description for the Tourism Informational Aide-Seasonal/Part-Time (Saturdays Required) position at Muskegon County, MI?
Seasonal - an employee appointed to a position which will require the services of an employee, up to 40 hours per week, to perform seasonal work activities for a continuous period that falls between the seasonal designation dates of April 1 and September 30.
NOTE: This is a part-time, seasonal position working up to 24 hours per week. Saturdays are required.
The Tourism Information Aide-Seasonal, under the general direction of the Community Development Director, provides customer service through various mediums and directly to the public by answering inquiries requiring considerable knowledge and familiarity of area points of interest, lodging facilities, attractions, and events, as well as departmental functions on a seasonal basis. This employee is also responsible for compiling, updating, and maintaining a calendar of events in conjunction with local and state organizations, including the upkeep of a photo library. The Tourism Information Aide maintains e-mail correspondence requiring time-sensitive research, maintains and updates a variety of databases for bulk mailing purposes, creates newsletters, group and conference packets, and various welcome letters and fliers. This employee will also perform other related duties as required.
Required Minimum Entrance Qualifications
Be a high school graduate or have successfully completed the General Education Development Test (GED).

EVALUATION CONTENT
The selected candidate must take a post-offer medical examination (including back screen and complete physical) and drug screening test given by a County appointed physician before the first day of employment. An offer of employment is contingent upon the results of the medical examination and drug screening test. Applicants for County employment may be subject to a post-offer criminal background check, depending on the nature and assignment of the position. When such check is conducted, an offer of employment is contingent upon the results of the criminal background check. Appointees must satisfactorily complete a probationary period before the appointment will be considered permanent.

PURPOSE
The purpose of this recruitment is to establish an eligible list from which to fill present and future vacancies in this classification in the County system. For each opening, the Department Head has her/his choice of the candidates who meet the required minimum entrance qualifications. This list remains in effect for three months unless exhausted or extended.
