What are the responsibilities and job description for the EMPLOYMENT COORDINATOR position at Muskegon County, MI?
The Employment Coordinator, under general review of a Program Supervisor, conducts job development and job search activities directed toward positions that are individualized to the interests and uniqueness of the individual served, following the principles of supported employment. The Employment Coordinator provides individualized support to assist in maintaining employment, including working with and delegating tasks to lower-level employees; assesses individual’s employment functioning on an ongoing basis, discusses individual’s preferences for disclosure of disability; communicates regularly with treatment team members, including contract agencies, to coordinate and integrate employment services into treatment, including development of an individualized employment goal with the individual served and other team members and completes all required reports, paperwork, and billing documentation. The Employment Coordinator provides education and support to employers as agreed upon by individuals that may include negotiating job accommodations and follow along contact with the employer; assists individuals in obtaining information about their benefits and how benefits will be affected by employment and performs other related duties as assigned.
Required Minimum Entrance Qualifications
1. Possess a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with a major in a Human service field; AND have a minimum of one (1) year of experience working with persons with either a mental illness or developmental disability in one or a combination of job placement, job development, job coaching, or marketing/sales.
2. Possess a valid driver’s license and the ability to obtain a Michigan Driver License within 30 days of employment.
3. Must have reliable transportation that may have to be used to carry out job duties of this classification.
Preferred but not Required
1. Bilingual candidates highly desired.
2. Lived experiences with mental illness/developmental disabilities/substance use disorders valued.
3. Individuals in Recovery and individuals with experience in Armed Services valued.

PHYSICAL ACTIVITIES
An employee in this class performs generally sedentary work activity requiring the occasional lifting of objects weighing thirty-five (35) pounds or less.
ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS
An Employment Coordinator works within the offices and program locations of HealthWest, with considerable travel required through the County by use of personal resources. An employee in this class may be required to work hours before and/or after the normal work hours of 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
