What are the responsibilities and job description for the Accounting Technician/CMH FT position at Muskegon County, MI?
An employee in this class, under the general supervision of departmental head or designee, performs difficult clerical and technical account keeping tasks in compliance with well-established departmental policies and procedures. An Accounting Technician/HealthWest maintains general and subsidiary account records; balances and prepares a variety of technical reports, adjudicates provider network claims, and assists in preparing and recording standardized journal entries. An employee in this class may also be required to assist auditors in account analysis preparation, assist higher level accounting personnel in completing the more complex accounting assignments, and performs other related duties as assigned.
Required Minimum Entrance Qualifications
1. Have a minimum of an associate’s degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in accounting or a closely related field; AND have one (1) year of work experience in bookkeeping, accounting, patient registration, medical/behavior health billing or coding;
OR
Must be a high school graduate or have successfully completed the General Educational Development Test (GED); AND have two (2) years’ of work experience in bookkeeping, accounting, patient registration, medical/behavior health billing or coding.
2. Must have reliable transportation that may have to be used to carry out job duties of this classification.
Preferred but not Required
1. A course in coding or experience in billing/coding is desired but not required.
2. Bilingual candidates highly desired.
3. Lived experiences with mental illness/developmental disabilities/substance use disorders valued.
4. Individuals in Recovery and individuals with experience in Armed Services valued.
