Instructional Assistant - Muskego High School

Will assist in instructional activities and supervision of students in a structured learning environment and will support students in a regular education class. Will assist staff with proctoring assessments and providing instructional support. May be working with students in small groups or on an individual basis. Will support other duties as assigned by the classroom teacher. Will also be assisting with daily living skills which may include toileting assistance and the monitoring of medication schedules for specific students. This role requires driving a district-owned van for student transport.

Physical Requirements
• Ability to walk a minimum of 2 miles per day.
• Ability to bend, stand, and stoop multiple times per day.
• Ability to place students weighing up to 80 pounds in Crisis Prevention Intervention (CPI) approved protective holds as defined by Act 118.
• Ability to maneuver students weighing up to 180 pounds in wheeled mobility equipment (wheelchair, stroller, etc).
• Ability to position or support an assisted transfer of a student weighing up to 180 pounds.
• Ability to administer life-saving measures (CPR and first aid)


1. High School diploma or equivalent.
2. Dependable driving and work record a must.
3. Positive and friendly work attitude.
4. Must have DPI Spec. Ed. Program Aide certification or be willing to become certified at your own expense.
5. Red Cross First Aid and CPR certified, or willing to take class.
6. Must be able to work flexible hours.
7. Be knowledgeable and physically capable of lifting/restraining students weighing up to 80 pounds.
8. Ability to get along and communicate well with staff, students, and parents.
9. Good oral and written communication skills.
10. Ability to use computer equipment and other assistive technology devices.
11. Ability to work with a minimum of supervision.
12. Ability to maintain confidentiality.
