Responsibilities
- Safely operate box trucks, tractor-trailers, or refrigerated trailers to transport freight over-the-road (OTR) routes.
- Load and unload cargo with manual handling techniques, ensuring proper securing of hazardous materials or dangerous goods when applicable
- Navigate using GPS systems to follow optimized routes while complying with FMCSA (Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration) regulations and DOT (Department of Transportation) standards
- Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections to ensure vehicle safety, including checking for hazardous materials compliance when transporting dangerous goods
- Maintain accurate delivery logs, shipment documentation, and delivery records in accordance with logistics cargo handling protocols
- Communicate effectively with dispatch teams regarding route updates, delivery schedules, or any issues encountered during transit
- Adhere strictly to hazardous materials regulations and safety procedures when handling special freight such as tanker or flatbed loads
Experience
- Proven experience as a commercial truck driver or delivery driver with a focus on truck loading and unloading operations
- Familiarity with refrigerated trailers, flatbeds, tankers, or tractor-trailers preferred
- Valid commercial driver’s license (CDL C or D), with endorsements for Hazmat and tanker loads highly desirable
- Knowledge of FMCSA regulations, Hazardous Materials Regulations (HMR), and DOT compliance standards
- Experience in manual transmission driving and route driving across diverse terrains and conditions
- Demonstrated ability to handle logistics cargo handling efficiently while maintaining safety standards
- Prior experience with delivery driving in a fast-paced environment is advantageous
