Early Childhood Music Instructor (Ages 4–7)
Part-Time | Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday Afternoons 3:30pm - 6:30pm
Position Overview
We are seeking a warm, confident, and skilled Early Childhood Music Instructor to teach group music classes for children ages 4–7. This role is ideal for an educator who understands child development, enjoys working with young children, and can lead engaging, developmentally appropriate music experiences.
Note: A minimum of five years of teaching children ages 4-7 years old is REQUIRED for this position (doesn't have to be in music, but we are only interested in candidates that "know" what it really takes (through experience) to teach children ages 4-7.
The litmus test in thinking about applying for this job, is that if you are still at a place where you need to check in with a supervising teacher about how to handle classroom management issues with a class of 6-8 children ages 4-7, then this is not the job for you. We are looking for YOU to be the expert on this. We can support and help, and we can attend in person and help. Byt we cannot be your expert. We hope that helps.
Classes focus on foundational music skills through singing, movement, rhythm, and play-based learning in a structured, nurturing environment.
Schedule
- Monday - Wednesdays 3:30pm - 6:30pm
- Consistent weekly schedule during the academic term
Primary Responsibilities
- Teach engaging group music classes for children ages 4–7
- Create a positive, structured, and age-appropriate learning environment
- Use singing, movement, rhythm instruments, and games to support musical and developmental growth
- Manage classroom behavior with confidence, warmth, and clarity
- Communicate professionally with studio staff and families as needed
- Communicate with Parents who attend class as well as summarizing the lesson after class
- Prepare for classes and follow established curriculum guidelines (training provided)
Minimum Qualifications (Required)
- Experience working with children ages 4–7 in an educational or instructional setting
- Ability to Sing on Pitch (not looking for epic singing, just need to be able to sing on pitch)
- Strong classroom presence and ability to lead groups of young children
- Reliable, punctual, and professional
- Comfortable and experienced interacting and communicating with customers (preferably parents of children) in the past
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior experience teaching music to young children (group classes preferred)
- Background in music, musical theatre, elementary education, or early childhood programs
- Familiarity with play-based or movement-based learning approaches
- Ability to sing comfortably and keep steady rhythm
