What are the responsibilities and job description for the Muslim Imam position at Music Ministry International?
The successful candidate for this position will be a 1099 contractor with Music Ministry International and be responsible for the following:
2.0 Period of Performance. The period of performance shall be for one 12-month base year and four 12-month option periods; up to five years at the government’s discretion.
Qualifications:
2.1.10.2.3. The Imam shall provide an Imam who is Muslim by faith. Imam shall be sufficiently versed in the Quran necessary to perform as the command’s subject matter expert on all Islamic matters. 2.1.10.2.3.1. Imam shall possess ecclesiastical endorsement from the Islamic Society of North America, PO Box 38, Plainfield, IN 46168, Or the American Muslim Armed Forces and Veterans Affairs Council (AMAF and VAC) PO Box 2125, Arlington, Virginia 22202-9998.
2.1.10.2.3.2. Imam shall possess a Master of Divinity degree (or its equivalent) from an accredited university in one of the following areas: theology (Islamic studies), counseling, psychology, or social work. This education requirement is waiverable by the COR upon senior installation Chaplain’s review and approval of key personnel resumes of primary or replacement Imam personnel. Any request for waiver must address how proposed Imam’s knowledge, skills, experience, or training prepared the Imam employee to perform the tasks satisfactorily absent a university degree.
2.1.10.2.3.3. Imam shall provide a resume which demonstrates the following:
a. Knowledge, training, and ability in the following areas: pastoral counseling, sermon (Khutbah) preparation and delivery, Islamic law and theology, worship leadership, ministration, clinical ministry interventions, and marriage and family ministry.
b. Experience in the following subject areas: how Islam, Christianity, and Judaism can generate stronger interfaith relations by using their moral and social values to create a common base for dialogue; comparative religions; Islamic and Christian History, religious pluralism; and interfaith issues. c. Proficiency to read Arabic and recite the Quran in Arabic and English. Imam may be required to submit a 10-minute recording of Qur'anic recitation along with the resume.
3.0. Imam.
3.0.1. High Level Objective (HLO). In the absence of a Government Muslim Imam, the Imam shall provide an Imam to conduct Islamic religious worship services and ministrations and serve as SME on Islamic religious instruction. The provided Muslim Imam must be an individual educated by a school with a Master of Divinity degree (or equivalent) in Islamic studies and in good standing with the Islamic Society of North America, PO Box 38, Plainfield, IN 46168, or the American Muslim Armed Forces and Veterans Affairs Council (AMAF and VAC) PO Box 2125, Arlington, Virginia 22202-9998. The Imam must be knowledgeable of the Islamic faith, beliefs, and traditions and able to provide services to meet the guidelines set by the Qur’an. The Imam shall be sufficiently
3.0.2.1. The Muslim Imam shall be on location at least 15 minutes prior to the scheduled in-person services to ensure worship and education spaces are prepared.
3.0.2.2. The Muslim Imam shall submit video recordings for digital platform worship and education no later than four (4) days prior to required presentation date.
3.0.2.3. The Imam shall thoroughly prepare for Islamic services to meet the guidelines set by the Holy Quran for the Military Services and conduct Sunday and Friday religious worship and Sunday religious education classes, as required. See Attachment 1 –Estimated Workload Data for services.
3.0.2.3.1. Services (Friday –Jumah) may be conducted in person as directed by the COR or via video recording presented over digital platform. Estimated 52 units for the year. Worship services are approximately one hour in length.

Services (Sunday worship services) maybe conducted in person as directed by the COR or via video recording presented over digital platform in accordance with the USAG Fort Jackson Religious Services schedule. Estimated 52 units for the year. Worship services are approximately one hour in length. As directed by the COR, Friday and Sunday services may be combined to offer more effective religious support to USAG FJ community, not to exceed 104 units for the year. The COR must provide no less than one week’s advance notice of this change. Imam must be educated in the Qur’an, Fiqh, Hadith and the Seerah of the Prophet Muhammad and sufficiently educated in traditions to teach and possess the skills, knowledge, training and certifications necessary to perform the tasks described herein. The Imam must possess excellent skills of public speaking and shall be experienced and fully qualified to perform the required services without any supervision or direction by Government personnel.
3.0.2.3.3. The Imam shall preside at the regularly scheduled Muslim services, to include Islamic studies, emergency services, Holy Days (Eid-UL Fitr and Eid-Eu Adha) and Special Services. Services are approximately one hour in length.
