Music in Place connects people and communities through music while curating high-quality experiences and supporting the artists who create them. Through free community concerts, youth music education programs, and special events, we bring people together and make the arts accessible to all.
Position Summary
The Marketing Coordinator plays a key role in supporting Music in Place’s visibility, engagement, and growth. This position is responsible for executing day-to-day marketing and communications efforts, ensuring consistency across platforms, and supporting event promotion, donor engagement, and organizational storytelling.
The ideal candidate is an organized, detail-oriented communicator who enjoys managing multiple projects and bringing creative ideas to life.
Key Responsibilities
Marketing & Communications
- Develop and maintain a comprehensive marketing calendar aligned with programs, events, and campaigns
- Write and distribute press releases; maintain and grow media lists
- Draft and schedule social media content across platforms (Meta Business Suite)
- Write and design weekly email newsletters in Mailchimp
- Assist with email communications including event announcements, donor updates, and fundraising messaging
- Schedule and manage community calendar listings and event promotions
Content & Brand Management
- Oversee graphic design projects and production of printed materials (programs, posters, invitations, signage)
- Ensure brand consistency across all communications and platforms
- Coordinate with designers, photographers, and other creative vendors as needed
Website & Digital Presence
- Update and maintain website content using WordPress
- Ensure event pages, program information, and key messaging are current and accurate
Data & Analytics
- Track engagement metrics across email, social media, and website platforms
- Monitor performance and provide regular reports on key marketing metrics
- Support data-informed decision making for campaigns and outreach
Event & Organizational Support
- Collaborate with team members on marketing for concerts, fundraising events, and education programs
- Support promotional efforts for donor cultivation and fundraising initiatives
- Assist with on-site marketing needs for events as needed
Qualifications
· 5 years of experience in nonprofit marketing
- Strong writing and editing skills, with the ability to adapt tone for different audiences
- Experience with Mailchimp, Google Workspace, WordPress, Meta Business Suite, and Canva
- Highly organized with strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple deadlines
- Comfortable working remotely, with flexibility for occasional in-person meetings and events
- Passion for the arts and community-based work
Preferred
- Resident of Sonoma, Napa, or Marin counties (Bay Area residency required)
- Experience working with small nonprofit teams
Pay: From $25.00 per hour
