Position Summary
The Funeral Director/Embalmer is responsible for serving families with compassion, professionalism, and excellence throughout every stage of the funeral process. Responsibilities include removals, embalming, funeral arrangements, directing services, completing legal documentation, coordinating final disposition, and providing exceptional care to every family entrusted to Music Funeral Services.
The successful candidate will demonstrate outstanding communication skills, strong technical abilities, attention to detail, sound judgment, and a sincere commitment to serving others.
Essential Responsibilities
· Respond to first calls and coordinate the transfer of decedents into our care.
· Meet with families to arrange funeral, memorial, cremation, and burial services.
· Guide families through available service options while honoring their wishes, traditions, and budget.
· Prepare decedents through embalming, dressing, cosmetology, and restorative art in accordance with professional standards and family authorization.
· Direct visitations, funerals, memorial services, and graveside services.
· Coordinate service details with clergy, cemeteries, churches, hospitals, hospices, florists, musicians, and other service providers.
· Prepare and process death certificates, permits, Social Security forms, veterans’ benefits paperwork, and all required legal documentation.
· Assist families with obituary preparation and related service information.
· Maintain compliance with all Georgia laws, regulations, and professional standards.
· Participate in the on-call rotation, including evenings and weekends as scheduled.
· Maintain the highest standards of professionalism, confidentiality, compassion, and customer service.
Qualifications
Qualified candidates should possess:
· Active Funeral Director and Embalmer licenses in the State of Georgia, or the ability to obtain Georgia licensure through reciprocity within a reasonable period.
· Strong embalming, restorative art, and preparation skills.
· Excellent interpersonal, communication, and customer service abilities.
· Strong organizational and time-management skills.
· Ability to manage multiple families and responsibilities simultaneously while maintaining exceptional attention to detail.
· Working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and standard office technology.
· Professional appearance and demeanor.
· Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
· Ability to successfully complete a criminal background check.
· Ability to lift and move decedents safely with appropriate assistance and equipment.
· Commitment to continuing education and professional development.
