Reports To: Director of Development, Events and Operations

Travel: Up to 50% of the time

Schedule: Position will require evenings and weekends outside of regular hours, as required.

Salary: $71,000 - $74,000 DOE.

Salary is adjusted to local market rates.*

Position Summary

The Development Events Manager will play a vital role in serving the Development Department by overseeing all development fundraising events. The Events Manager will work directly with the Director of Development, Women of Legacy, to meet Museum of the Bible’s event giving goals, while also coordinating various consultants and collaborating with the Chief Development Officer. This position will implement events in the DC museum, and in multiple locations around the country. Event types include luncheons, dinners, coffees, and weekend destination events.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Oversee execution for Development programs and events, lead all regional events and annual Gala initiatives, and when needed, support Women of Legacy events and initiatives
  • Effectively facilitate the pre-planning process and execution of events and programs to achieve pre-set ROI’s
  • Liaison interdepartmentally, with vendors, and clients to coordinate event operations on behalf of Development
  • Perform and work well under pressure with demonstrated hospitality professionalism
  • Manage event programming and schedule, working with event hosts and Development Leadership to accomplish event goals and execute timelines
  • Lead gift and material fulfillment for campaigns and events
  • Maintain CRM and lead in report building for department
  • Work alongside Event Coordinator(s) to ensure all guest and event data is promptly entered into Salesforce
  • Utilize event software to manage digital communications, registrations, and webpages
  • Responsible for organizing and executing procedures, codes, campaigns, and follow-up processes for events and communications
  • Provide regular status and reporting information, including feedback from events and meetings
  • Manage event and department budgets, collaborate with AP team on vendor payments and compliance with Development leadership
  • Review and approve contracts as needed
  • Other Duties as Assigned


Qualifications & Requirements

Knowledge

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience required.
  • 3 years of event planning experience


Skills / Core Competencies

  • Highly organized with ability to manage multiple tasks and schedules.
  • Thorough with attention to detail
  • Excellent problem-solving skills to identify and resolve unexpected challenges.
  • Ability to maintain a working relationship with vendors and venues.
  • Intuit (appreciate) complex elements of different events with empathy to understand donor and attendee needs.
  • Ability to provide quality customer service to donors.
  • Sensitivity and patience to manage last-minute changes and stressful situations without losing composure
  • High personal and professional integrity.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficient in MS Office Suite, CRM software, Smartsheet, Cvent
  • Ease in learning software applications.
  • Ability to manage a budget

  • Ability to sit or stand for long periods of time
  • Ability to repeat the same movements for long periods of time
  • Ability to travel periodically – up to 50% of the time
  • Ability to lift 50 pounds
  • Required to work regular business hours in person
  • Periodic need to work outside business hours when onsite for event
