Position Overview
Under the general direction of the Head of Paper Conservation:
- Assist in the day-to-day operations of the Deknatel Paper Conservation Lab and participate in a wide range of conservation activities generated by an active museum environment.
- Undertake research, in-depth examination, and treatment of artworks.
- Participate in documentation of artwork, preventive conservation, and storage and exhibition planning.
- Work in collaboration with conservators, conservation scientists, collections care specialists, curators, and other staff on projects as assigned.
- Conservation and Scientific Research at the MFA is a public-facing department that embraces opportunities to engage with visitors, and the Fellow is encouraged to contribute to community engagement activities.
- Included in the fellowship is the opportunity to carry out a publishable research project.
- Graduate degree in conservation from a recognized program, and a minimum of one year of practical experience beyond graduation
- Excellent written, photo documentation, and communication skills
- Ability to work collaboratively and excel as part of a team and in a rapidly-paced and changeable environment
