The Museum & Cultural Center at 5ive Points seeks a dynamic, entrepreneurial, and highly accountable Executive Director to lead the organization through a period of growth and transformation. With an annual budget of approximately $800,000 and expanding programs and revenue streams, the organization is positioned to deepen its impact as a cultural anchor in the Cleveland, TN region.
Reporting to the Board of Directors, the Executive Director is responsible for setting organizational vision and driving its execution. This is a hands-on leadership role in which the Executive Director both defines strategic direction and leads implementation across all areas of the organization. The ideal candidate is a self-starter who thrives in an environment requiring initiative, ownership, and the ability to independently move priorities forward.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Vision & Leadership
- Establish and articulate a clear, compelling vision for the organization's growth and community impact
- Translate vision into actionable strategies, measurable goals, and tangible results
- Partner with the Board of Directors to align on priorities while leading strategy development and execution
- Serve as the primary public representative and advocate for the organization
Financial Management & Revenue Growth
- Oversee all financial operations including budgeting, forecasting, reporting, and internal controls
- Manage and grow an annual operating budget of approximately $800,000
- Drive performance across multiple revenue streams: concert series, annual gala, event rentals, retail gift gallery, museum memberships, and grants
- Ensure financial sustainability through both earned and contributed revenue strategies
Development & Fundraising
- Lead all fundraising efforts including major gifts, sponsorships, and grants
- Build and steward relationships with donors and community stakeholders
- Grow and elevate signature fundraising events
- Identify and pursue new funding opportunities to support expansion
Marketing & Community Engagement
- Direct marketing, branding, and communications strategies to increase visibility, attendance, and engagement
- Build strong partnerships across the arts, business, and civic sectors
- Position the organization as a leading cultural destination in the region
Museum Programs, Exhibitions & Collections
- Maintain and strengthen key institutional relationships, including affiliation with the Smithsonian Institution
- Collaborate with the Curator to develop compelling exhibitions and programming
- Oversee the selection, negotiation, and booking of traveling and touring exhibits
- Hold ultimate responsibility for collections stewardship including acquisition, documentation, preservation, and ethical care
Operations & Team Leadership
- Lead and support a team of 3 full-time and 4 part-time staff
- Direct all aspects of operations including HR, systems, and workflow
- Build organizational capacity, structure, and processes to support growth
Facilities & Capital Planning
- Oversee facility operations, maintenance, and improvements
- Identify and plan for long-term capital and infrastructure needs
- Manage vendors and service providers
QUALIFICATIONS
Required:
- Proven leadership experience in nonprofit management, arts administration, museum leadership, or a related field
- Demonstrated ability to set vision and independently drive execution
- Strong track record in fundraising and revenue generation
- Financial acumen and experience managing organizational budgets
- Experience leading small teams in highly hands-on environments
- Entrepreneurial mindset with a willingness to take initiative and own outcomes
- Excellent communication, relationship-building, and problem-solving skills
- Willingness to work nights and weekends as required
Preferred:
- Experience working with museum affiliations or national partners
- Familiarity with collections management standards
- Experience booking and managing traveling and touring exhibitions
- Experience booking and producing concerts or live performance series
- Experience building or rebuilding organizational systems and strategy
