Store Manager | Muse Paintbar | Fairfax/Mosaic

MUSE PAINTBAR
MUSE PAINTBAR Salary
Fairfax, VA Full Time
POSTED ON 8/23/2026
AVAILABLE BEFORE 10/23/2026

Who We Are
Muse Paintbar is a guided painting experience with 26 studios across the East Coast. Acrylic paint, easels, a bar and kitchen, and a few hundred people a week who show up, fully confident that they have no artistic ability whatsoever. They leave with a painting they're proud of and a good story. We're not a gallery, and we're not a classroom. We're a great night out that happens to involve a paintbrush.

Who You Are

You've managed a team before, and you're good at it. You can read a room, fix a problem before anyone notices it happened, and get a nervous first-timer, both customer and employee, to loosen up. You're comfortable painting with acrylics, and you don't mind being on stage. You like the fact that no two nights look the same.

The Role

The Store Manager runs the studio. Daily operations, the team, the customer experience, and the sales that come out of all three. You'll be hands-on in every part of it, from teaching a session to counting inventory to sitting down with a team member about their goals.

What you’ll own

The floor

  • Open and close the studio and keep the operation running clean
  • Lead and assist painting sessions with clear, step-by-step instruction that a beginner can follow
  • Prep and run private events and parties from setup through breakdown
  • Oversee and work in the kitchen, holding the line on food safety and quality
  • Drive sales through the way you and the team talk to guests
  • Keep the space looking right: cleanliness, organization, and marketing displays set to company standards

The team

  • Review applications, conduct interview screenings, run paint auditions, and train new hires
  • Continually provide feedback and coaching
  • Connect with every team member regularly to talk about wins, opportunities, and what's next
  • Track performance and run reviews with your Regional Manager and HR
  • Build and maintain monthly schedules with consistent coverage in partnership with your Regional Manager
  • Review and approve time-off requests within policy, escalating staffing needs to your Regional Manager when necessary
  • Review timecards each working day, and verify and submit weekly

The business

  • Regular check-ins with your Regional Manager on sales, staffing, operations, and inventory
  • Submit accurate inventory counts and orders, and process weekly deliveries
  • Handle in-studio customer complaints quickly and professionally, escalating the complicated ones
  • Enforce alcohol service, safety, and cash handling procedures
  • Submit maintenance and facility tickets as needed
  • Collaborate with your Regional Manager on feedback for development and advancement
  • Other responsibilities as they come up

The Schedule

  • Full-time, with a flexible schedule that includes days, evenings, and weekends. Nights and weekends are the bulk of the business.

What you bring

  • 2 years of full-time management experience
  • Bachelor's degree in art, business, marketing, finance, or a related field, or equivalent management experience
  • Experience in the arts, and comfort painting with acrylics
  • Experience in a customer-facing environment like a bar or restaurant
  • Group art instruction experience preferred
  • Strong written and verbal communication
  • Sales, service, and leadership instincts
  • Comfortable in Google Workspace, Slack, and studio tech
  • Full-time flexible availability on-site, regular weekends and evenings required
  • Reliable transportation and willingness to travel up to 20% monthly
  • Must be 21 or older
  • TIPS and ServSafe Manager certification (we'll train and pay for these if you don't have them)

Physical requirements

  • Standing for long stretches
  • Stepping onto and off of elevated surfaces frequently
  • Frequent bending, reaching, moving, and lifting up to 50 pounds
  • Moving through the studio quickly and safely, including tight spaces and raised surfaces like the stage
  • Comfortable in a fast-paced environment with music and large groups
  • Extended periods sitting and working on a computer
  • Reliable internet, reliable phone and laptop, and a quiet, well-lit space for remote work when needed

What you’ll enjoy

  • Competitive hourly rate
  • Paid sick time, 10 company holidays, and 3 weeks vacation time
  • Medical, Dental, and Vision health benefits effective upon hire
  • Additional insurance options, including life insurance and disability options
  • TIPS and ServSafe certification covered
  • Free use of the studio and supplies when we're closed
  • Free gallery space to display and sell your own work without commission fees
  • Employee discount and monthly session vouchers
